Welcome! The contents of this site have been moved. Please read the explanation below to find out where. On a cold and rainy night, on December 14th 2008 to be exact, I accessed my old site for the first time in ages and found out something rather peculiar. First of all, my nose was running, forbidding a nice little cold to accompany me on the long and particularly busy week ahead. Then, it was raining and not snowing, something which several years ago would not have been normal for mid December in my area. But most of all, there were adds on my precious website. Not that adds are a bad thing in themselves, you know… People need to make a living. it’s just that I’m not too fond of people other than me making a living on my writing. If this site were a blog about how I woke up at 2 p.m. today and what I’ve had for dinner, I suppose I wouldn’t mind. Not that that wouldn’t bring in visitors. I mean, how many people out there aren’t interested in the habitual life of the Romanian urban sloth? But that would have the creative input of a grasshopper (choose the insect or the cocktail, neither of them will ever write a bestseller on its own, not that I could either, but that is beside the point) so I could leave it be. But when I take a three hour break from blowing my nose, with dripping consequences, for the purpose of writing something original and mildly interesting, with occasional outbursts of humour, you have to admit that, if there must be adds on the site, I’d rather be the one making money off them. Hence I’m moving the labour of my brow to a different location, one where the revenues from the adds actually go into my pockets. My blog with news and updates and not that much personal information will be here. On this blog you can find links to the “creative blogs” affiliated with it, which will host my writings. The ongoing series will have a different blog each, for consistency, while the finished short fiction will be posted on a few different blogs, by genre. I must sincerely apologise for not re-posting all my stories immediately
at the new location, but this change comes at the worst time of the
year, so please be patient until I have time to sort things out. There
will also be new content starting February (I wanted to make that
January, but January will be a busy month for me), so please look
forward to that.
News and Updates: November 18th 2007: I have been extremely lazy this year, and I have been through a lot. I have been through a time when I couldn't write, not really writer's block but a horrible vegetable-like state induced by medication. I am better now, the medication is reduced, but I still can't see myself being able to write like before. My current work is of lower quality and, personally, I find it boring. I would love to share it with the world, but I'm hoping I could have it published when it's finished. When I shall have collected enough rejection slips I'll post it here for all my fans (that's 5 to 7 people, you know…) to enjoy. I'm working on three novels at the same time because it gets boring if I only work on one, but I'm trying my best to progress with the first one, which is already on page 61. I expect it to be finished in the summer of 2008 and if no agent likes it in the following year, it will be serialized here. If, on the other hand, my work gets published, you’ll get a teaser chapter, a synopsis and a link to where you can buy the book from. Thank you all for your patience. January 1st 2007: Another one of the samples is added, this time in Romanian. It's the first chapter of Harieta Olaru si piatra ponce. Enjoy. Only two beginnings left to add. For those who know what The Life and Memories of mary, Available Blonde and The Case of the Missing Object are about, you may start voting. September 24th 2006: I have added the poll and one of the samples as a work in progress. There are three more samples that I need to add, and I shall do so in the following days. I must add that one of the titles is in Romanian, and the book it represants will be written entirely in this language. Also I cannot guarantee that these books, once finished, will be available on the site. I still have hopes of having them published and putting up a link to Amazon.com instead. September 23rd 2006: I have been linked. My dear friend Ela is directing the readers of her blog to this site, and I realize it's pretty much dead. So I am planning a big update soon. But since I have no finished pieces, I shall make a poll instead. I am currently studying French for work, but once I'm done with that I shall get back to my abandoned literary projects, and you'll get to vote which one I finish (and hopefully publish) first. I shall put up soon a page with samples from all these projects and the poll. Stay tuned! September 20th 2005: It has been long, hasn't it? Now that I've got my life more or less sorted out, I'm finally updating this site, including the FAQ section (no big changes there). And because I don't have anything new to upload just yet, I'm adding my last winter's Gryphonwood contest winner, Sir Joseph's Choice, in the Finished stories section. December 27th 2004: Dear Alex, this
is a Christmas present for you. It is a little late, I know, and it's
not quite finished, but I was thinking of you when I wrote it, which
is why I decided, against all the rules I've laid down for my Bitches'
Club series, to have someone “pair up” with… a secretary! Best wishes,
D. Leaving so soon? Oh my, I must be a terrible host! Well, it's been a pleasure having you here, and I hope you've had a good time. Do come back soon, I don't think there'll be anything new here, but I just love company.
