Kevin, Nick, and Joe Voice their Opinions on their Songs!!

It's About Time: Debut Album

"What I Go To School For"

Nick: That was a song originally done by a band called Busted. It's an amazing song and it's one of my favorites to play live because the crowd really gets into it., which is really cool.

Kevin: One of my favorite songs to perform live, too. It's about falling in love with an older girl in school and having a crush on her. Everyone in the audience loves to be jumping up and down to it. It's really an energetic song.

Joe: It's really a perfect song for us. At every concert, I dedicate it to my third grade teacher because, I had a really big crush on her.

"Time For Me To Fly"

Nick: That was one of the first songs we wrote together. "Please Be Mine" was the song that got us signed, and then we wrote "Time For Me To Fly". It's another one of my favorite songs, because it's got a really good message to it and people really connect to it.

Joe: That's a great song. The focus of the song is forgetting about your worries. Sometimes everybody just wants to get out of where they are or a situation or an instance they're in. People just want to feel free sometimes, and that's what's cool about this song.

Kevin: An inspirational song for sure. One of the first songs we recorded and wrote, and it changed a lot of things for us. We haven't played it in a long time, but we should bring it back and freak people out.

"Year 3000"

Kevin: This and "What I Go To School For" were added late in the process. We already had a finished product, then the label came back in and wanted to change a few things and we agreed. Of course, "Year 3000" became one of our biggest hits. It's a song that really worked in the U.S.

Joe: A fan favorite, for sure. We reworked it with an amazing producer and we had such an amazing time recording it. We just love to perform it live because of the energy of the crowd is unbeleivable, and their energy pushes us on.

Nick: It's also originally done by Busted, and that was probably one of our biggest hits, and we're really happy the way it turned out. It was just a really fun song, and when we first recorded it, we were so excited about doing it.

"One Day At A Time"

Nick: It's about misssing someone, and everyday you're just waiting for the next time you'll see that person, and like the title says, just waiting one day at a time.

Kevin: An amazing slow song. It looks back at high school or middle school days and the person is thinking, "Oh, I don't want to be here!" It's just knowing you want to be with someone else rather than just being bored. This reminds me of summertime with nothing to do.

Joe: It's a love song about a teenager growing up and they do the same thing everyday, but it still comes back to missing that one person they care about.

"Six Minutes"

Kevin: Another song that was given to us, but an amazing song. The hook was so great and we signed aboard right away. Of course you want to put your own spin on the song, which happened with the production. Lyrically, we wanted to make some changes, but legally weren't able to.

Nick: We haven't played it in a while, but it's a song that when we play live, people really get into it. It's like the perfect tempo to jump to and it's just a fun song to do in front of a crowd.

Joe: That song was so much fun to record and I really love it, because it has an old-school reggae feeling to it and it's fun to play live.

"Mandy"

Joe: Mandy is one of our best friends. She grew up with us and I actually dated her, but then we broke up. But we're still best friends, which doesn't happen often. It didn't work out between us, but everything ended up okay.

Nick: That was our first single ever as a band, and we recorded three music videos for it. We did a three-part video series for "Mandy". Same song, but we created and onfoing storyline and there was a cliffhanger for each one. I think it was a really cool concept an dpeople were really excited about it.

Kevin: It was the last song we wrote, and the first single. We loved it; we found the sound we wanted and ran with it. Mandy was one of Joe's girlfriends, but they broke up. We're all still best friends though, and we love her. And it's just funny to play that song every night, because there really is a Mandy, and when she comes to the show, it's like she's a celebrity. The song is completely about her.

"You Just Don't Know It"

Kevin: I haven't heard that song in forever! We wrote that song with Desmond Childs, who has written everything under the sun, and is an excellent writer. We had a blast, it was so much fun and it turned out great.

Nick: A great song, and probably one of my favorites off the last album as well. Just really good songwriting, and I was very happy with it.

Joe: I call this the stalker love song. You know the kid who always has a crush on the girl, saying, "One day I'm going to be with you, you just don't know it."

"I Am What I Am"

Nick: When we performed concerts supporting th first album, it's a song we opened with everyday. Just a great opening song. People really love it and they always ask us to play it, but our set would be three hours long if we played every song.

Joe: A fun one. It was really cool to work on that one, because it's just being comfortable with who you are and having a good time.

Kevin: That's another we actually didn't write, and when we first heard it, we didn't like it at all. But we still recorded it and some how fell in love with it. We said, "Oh this is exactly how we want to be, this is how we want to sound, this is just what we wanted." It changed a lot of things for us, that song.

"Underdog"

Nick: An awesome song. It was originally more acoustic guitarsounding and mellow, but we really rocked it out during the production, and i think it made the song more exciting for people .

Kevin: A song we wrote in the hopes of showing that there's a beautiful side and something important in evry single person out there, no matter who they are. No matter what you might say to them, they might be someone that can change the world. We wanted to say some thing with that song.

Joe: It's not about the family fun cartoon character that everybody knows. It's about that person being th underdog, who everyone doesn't expect to one day do something great, but then they end up doing just that.

"705"

Nick: Also one of my favorite songs. When we first wrote that, I came in with this cool piano part and we worked off of that and came up with th song, which was really cool.

Joe: I love that song, because it has such a great story in it, and you can pinpoint every single situation that makes it up. It talks about you seeing the girl you care about with another guy, which is kind of like, "Ouch!" So much happens in that song.

Kevin: Just a good, fun pop song. One of our favorite songs on the album. it's a song we wrote that was hust designed to be cute and fun.

"Please Be Mine"

Nick: It was pretty amazing, and we had a feeling it was going to be something pretty special and great. It really was a new beginning in all our lives, which makes the song even more special.

Kevin: The song that got us signed! We still play it every night, I hope we always will. It's a song that we really love to play, because of what it did for us.

Joe: We were really fighting for that to be on the album, because we were working on someone else's songs on a lot of the tracks. The song was so important to us, and we're just happy we made it.
