On March 11, 2007, the night the Jonas Brothers kicked off th Carnival for a Cure, following the first song, Nick took center stage and asked for a show of hands of people in the audience, especially kids, who have diabetes. Then he shocked the crowd by raising his own hand, admitting for the first time publicly that he suffers from Type 1 diabetes. Nick told those gathered that he was diagnosed while on tour in November 2005. When the doctor first told him about his condition Nick's first thought was that he might die. "I had an emotional breakdown, since I really had no idea what diabetes was all about," said Nick. "I wondered, 'Why me?' Then I asked myself, 'Why not me?' and realized that I might be able to help other kids with diabetes." Thanks Life Story™ for the info!
Now, I know that you ladies out there are probably worrying about Nick now, but ther's really no need to! As you read up there Nick is perfectly fine with having Diabetes. It's his chance to help and reach out to all the kids out there with the same problem. Oh and another good thing is that when Nick first started out with the disease he would have had to give himself shots of insulin into his body, but now there's no need for them. He was one of the first people in the country to use the new OmniPOD, which is a system that automatically shoots insulin into Nick's body whenever he needs it. It's completely painless and conveinient for Nick because you all know about his crazy and hectic lifestyle. Well, keep up the good work Nick!
