Baton Twirlers & Cheerleaders

2008 Some sad news, Caileigh has decided to leave baton twirling and Laura shall finish in February.  We took a team of 11 athletes to a successful region 15 competition. 10 atheletes competed at areas with 6 members going to Pompey this year - cant wait! Kate, Chebz and josh represented us at selections this year with chebz, charlotte and natalie representing us at British opens too.  Nationals bought us some good results.  Now we've got in some outside training for the summer ready for our camp and open 15 preperations.

2007. Already we have 8 girls going to regionals in January.  (Charlotte, Caileigh, Natalie, Chelsea, Kate, Cherry, Charlie and Lulu) and welcome back to Josh, only now he's a grown-up! Well done to all who got through to Nationals you did really well it was a great weekend.  Josh was included in the BBTSA opening ceremony!  I Also believe that Caileigh has advanced in to Novice section since she came 2nd at Nationals! We entered our first British Open Competition this year, in Perth, Scotland and although competed in the wrong section we had a really good time. We will return next year!  Welcome back Poppy, now your GCSE's are out of the way we hope to see you progressing! England Team Calls, this year Josh, Kate and Cherry have all qualified to be part of the National Squad and we hope to see them representing their country at Grand Prix, Europeans and Worlds soon. Summer was a bit of a downer this year, we had to perform in the rain an awful lot this year. But September Open was a complete success! 32 Placings between 12 athletes! WELL DONE!  Camp was such a blast this year, we were successful in our routines wining a 1st, 2nd and 3rd, individuals were brilliant and Novelty completely rocked.  Come the beginning of the new season we have expanded to nearly 30 athletes so I can only hope that 2008 will be just as successful if not more!

2006 we have 8 athletes currently training for BBTSA Individuals and a 9 strong senior team training for TUK  Southern Regionals.  And its congratulations to Charlotte and Natalie for their placings at Nationals, the whole team is proud of you and especially Natalie as this means you are now moving up a skill level (Natalie Hunt: Novice!) Sorry to lose some of our senior team to school pressure, you guys will be greatly missed, but onwards and upwards.  This year see's a new Tinies Team enrol in the great sport of twirling! We only took part in one open comp this year to ease our girls into competition work.  The summer came and went working to raise funds and soon we were back into competition season.  September bough us successes in individuals, duos and in Club Routine (1st place) and a 3rd place pom pom.  We decided not to continue with TUK and concentrate on BBTSA  but good luck to the teams  and friends we've left behind.  Then off to CAMP! Unfortunatley a personal problem meant that we were unable to stay during the week (Sheena we all love you for being there!) but we came away with Individual medals and 1st Club Routine meaning we are national champions AGAIN!  So onto 2007.

2005. We got 10 girls thru BBTSA Regional 15 Competition and 7 girls thru BBTSA Area 4 Competition to get to the national championships held in Portsmouth. On the way down our chairman was run over, the girls still competed at his orders and did really well despite not getting much rest. In April we went to TUK Southern Regional Competition. We came home with many trophies and awards including 3rd Inspection, 3rd Senior Military, 3rd Junior Military, 3rd Senior Flag and 2nd Combination. Our combination this year has been based on the 60year celebration of VE Day. Once again we were also nominated for another opportunity award. Also this year we have achieved: BBTSA Region 15 Open Competition (September), 1st Junior Freestyle Dance Team. 2nd Senior Dance Twirl, 3rd Senior Pom Pom, Twirling UK National Championships (October), 2nd Inspection, 3rd Junior Military, Most Improved Troupe Of The Year, Trainers Of The Year, BBTSA Festival Camp Week (October), 1st Senior Dance Twirl, 2nd Senior Pom Pom, Overall a very sucessful year!

2004. We marched with pride once more on New Years Day in London, this year we were given uniform, it was very impressive. Caroline, Natalie, Poppy and Caileigh Mae qualified for the BBTSA National Championships, although they did not get any placings we are proud of them for making it through that far. In April we took part in Twirling UK’s first Southern Regional Competition, we won 3rd places in Combination and Tiny Baton as well as medals for leaders and mascots. We had a pleasant Summer, public displays, carnivals and demonstrations to groups. We started a workshop programme via our displays and with luck have managed to gain new recruits. In the BBTSA September Open Competition we came away with many trophies once again for solos, duos and troupe. We took part in twirling UK nationals in October in which we came 3rd in Combination again with many medals for leaders and mascots. At camp this year we also did well coming home with loads of silverware including a top spirit award for Ellie.

2003 after the London parade we didn’t have the best start to the year with some senior girls leaving, and our troupe chairman being attacked. However we put in our all and won an Opportunity Award from the West Norfolk Council, for our work with disabled children, which was news to us as some of us didn’t realise we had anyone disabled. We also joined the BBTSA instead of BIBTA and stayed with UKFM. We also broadened our horizons and went for cheerleading in a big way , we joined the BCA got the hand book and off we went. This year we have also been on TV cheering for the show ‘Home On Their Own’ and led every local carnival we can think of . Recently we have joined Twirling UK and are now practising for the Southern regional competition in April. Unfortunately we lost a trainer, Michelle, and our longest running member, Holli, when they moved to Spain. They will always be part of our troup and we hope they will come back to us for a few visits and our In-House.

2002 we started our tinies section with 6 girls we also joined BIMA (now called BIBTA) and took part in the London New Years procession. In the March individuals we won five 1st places and 22 runner up places, and in the southern regionals we won one 1st, one 2nd and the entertainers award. Over the summer our tinies were unbeatable winning 4 out of 5 of the competitions they entered with our tiny leader taking leader of the day each time. To add to our success in the BIBTA nationals we won three 3rd places in Senior freestyle military, Pom and junior baton. It was our best year to date. In November again we held our In-house competition where Laura had her head shaved for Children In Need.

2001 we tried a few other open competitions, gaining experience and meeting new friends. We bought a new stereo and made new marching uniforms, things were really going along nicely. Then disaster struck when one of our trainer’s car was stolen, in the boot was our new poms, stereo and troupe batons. The car and equipment were burnt out and due to the fact that majorettes was not seen as sport at that time the insurance company would not pay out for our losses. Once again we pleaded our community for sponsorship but were turned down so back to the hard work fundraising. At the end of the year, for a bit of fun, we held an in-house competition it was so successful that it is now an annual event which incorporates our end of year show, disco and presentation evening.

2000 we had enough to purchase new poms but we kept Purple and white as our colours. We also bought new shoes. This year we also met the Newmarket Hotshots who helped us get into the open competition circuit although we kept on with the displays. By the end of the year we had split the troupe into juniors and seniors, who had new uniforms. We also joined the UKFM to get some extra training.

1999 with our 8 girls doing small local displays with simple baton and Pom routines. We danced as one troupe youngest to eldest (7 - 14). We looked around for sponsorship and received a few donations but nothing major. We couldn’t afford new uniforms or equipment but with luck found a local-ish troupe to help us out, Fakenham Highlights. They sold us there old purple/white leotards and old marching jackets. Some more luck came our way when a former Christchurch troupe (Townley Twirlers) closed and sold us there old Purple/white poms, Some dance shoes and a green set of uniforms. We were now off to a good start and over our first year fundraised hard to be able to afford some new ‘toys’.
