This is a sample page for the free service on FreeWebs.com - note that this site address (see above in your browser) is freewebs.com, not drix.net which is my usual server. I'd be happy to set up a web site for you on this service for only a one hour fee. If you only need one page, I can do this as a trade-off for the additional pages included in the "simple static site" fee. A free counter (see bottom left corner of this page) is included in this service. Free forms and a guestbook are also available; I can set them up as one additional page each - they are not operable though until after 7 days (see my sample forms from the links).
You will also be able to use this web service for uploading Word, Excel, and other files. You could then email the link to your friends without even putting it on a web site or you could also put a link on the web site in much the same way one can with a Word document. See this example.
For your own domain name (eg. mybusiness.com), you will be subject to any charges by this server (as of July 29, 2003 it was free but transferring it was required which includes a fee for one additional year at a minimum of $19.95 or you can leave it at its present registration location and get DNS & Domain Hosting for a fee of $10 for six months or $15 for 1 year and you'll need to give your domain name registrant the freewebs.com service addresses). I cannot make any guarantee about the service as I am not connected with them. If you would like me to register domain names for you, I can do that for a service fee of $10 plus the cost of the domain names. Carrie Children's Foundation - note that they have purchased a domain name carriechildrensfoundation.com but it uses a free template provided by this server and the free web-based software - I just provided training to learn how to use it. (Located in Clinton, Prince George's Co., Maryland)
WomUUn Web - they're using the free service at this site and change the home page quarterly - they're posting a free online monthly newsletter and hoping that someone else is archiving it elsewhere - they are also using a free template & I just provided training. Besides time spent in training, I also sent printable detailed instructions which she found helpful. (Located in Silver Spring, Montgomery County, MD)
Norma Jean Fazenbaker's Place - This site is also using the free template and web-based software, but is paying for additional pages (I believe the service only comes with 5 or 6) so that her weekly column is archived there. As I'm writing this, she has stopped using it, because she has had problems accessing the site - she has dial-up & she may be trying during busy internet hours (I've heard of other reports of this, too), so her site may be eliminated if she doesn't keep up her annual fee (though it is a very low fee). I provided training as mentioned above. (Located in Brandywine, Prince George's County, MD)
