Encouragement, Strength, Support

Welcome

I believe that every woman is a star. She is queen for a day the day she is married and queen again each time she gives birth. Simply put she's a star! On these days she is given undivided attention and all her needs are met because she deserves it.

So what exactly is a doula? (This is explained further on the FAQ's page)

A doula provides emotional, and physical support to laboring women and/or their partners. Her role for mom is to provide support by giving encouragement, motivation, suggesting position techniques, and providing information.

A doula provides continuous support to mom throughout labor. She may leave for short periods of time to get a bite to eat or visit the bathroom. She will never leave mom without another support person being present.

A doula is an advocate. She provides mom and her partner information regarding her choices about labor, and birth choices. A doula helps mom understand that she has a voice regarding her labor and birth choices. She reminds mom of her previous decisions so she can make her own decisions during labor.

In summary a doula is available to help mom have an encouraging, and enjoyable labor and postpartum period. She assists mom and baby bonding and often helps with breastfeeding if requested.
