Our Story
My husband and I live on a small 4 acre farm in South Central KS. We decided to start raising boer goats to help our local 4H and FFA kids be able to find and buy their meat goat projects locally and at a more reasonable price. Our adventure started labor day weekend September 2005. We started off buying 6 registered percentage does that were already bred and 4 young doelings to start our herd. Things started off good and we successfully kidded 8 healthy kids with 2 of the kids becoming Grand and Reserve Grand Champions at our local County Fairs in 2006! With doing so well our first year it has only encouraged us even more to increase our number of does and improve our genetics to what the judges in the show ring are looking for. We have since then increased our herd to about 40 foundation does which includes fullbloods, percentages, and commercial does. We believe we will improve our genetics even more with our recent purchase of ADB Shazaam, a dark red and white paint buck from John and Dolores Barnes of Lueders, TX. See pictures of him and his sire Double Oak Hot Stuff on the Buck page. He should also help us add more color to our already colorful herd of solid reds, blacks, paints, and traditional does that we have! We are now striving to learn as much as we can from being members in organizations like ABGA, IBGA, and KMGA and learning from other goat breeders like us to help make the boer goat breed better!
