WE CURRENTLY NEED FOSTER HOMES FOR FERRETS TO LIVE IN UNTIL THEY GO TO THEIR FOREVER HOMES!! we will have our foster contract and application online soon for you to view, but contact us if you are interested in fostering and we can talk about the process.
We are a ferret rescue in Fairbanks, Alaska, who strive to help homeless, and unwanted ferrets to find responsible, loving forever families. We strive to provide resources for new ferret owners, to provide constant support for adoptive families, and to educate people on the reality of ferret ownership. DWW always has ferrets for adoption, and will always take ferrets in need of a home.
When a ferret first arrives they are evaluated for temperament and any health issues. Where needed, these ferrets are spayed/neutered, receive updated vaccines and are placed with foster parents or stay at the shelter until they are adopted out. We screen all applicants for adoption for permanent placement to the best of our ability. Our shelter does not charge an adoption fee, and only stays in operation with donations from people like you. If you would like to donate food, treats, or supplies we will accept at any time. If you would like to help by volunteering or fostering we would love to hear from you. Our goal is to increase the number for ferrets that we can support, and ultimately eliminate the need for a ferret shelter in the interior of Alaska.
If you want to adopt, be sure you know what's ahead of you. Ferrets are high maintenance pets and require a veterinarian with "ferret experience" - not always easy to find. You will need a ferret proof room and a cage, with accessories, and five to twelve years commitment. We are dedicated to the betterment of ferrets lives and expect you as a new owner to be as well.
