All the old maps from Halo Combat Evolved and Halo 2 should be brought back into the game. The maps will have to be graphically updated, meaning the graphics will be the same as in the rest of the game, the maps themselves will have to stay the way they are.
Adding the old maps will also result in a new Matchmaking system, instead of just selecting matchmaking you will now choose one of the following options:
1: Halo Combat Evolved maps
2: Halo 2 maps
3: Halo 3 maps
4: Halo Trilogy maps
When you choose option one, you will get to play on the following maps:
- Blood Gulch
- Damnation
- Sidewinder
- Battle Creek
- Rat Race
- Prisoner
- Hang ‘Em High
- Chill Out
- Derelict
- Boarding Action
- Wizard
- Chiron TL34
- Longest
When you play these maps, you can only use the weapons and vehicles that were in the original as well, this means: no BR, SMG, Carbine, Beam Rifle, Sentinel Beam, Brute Shot, Spetre, Wraith and Banshee.
The weapons and vehicles will act like the H2 versions however, this means tracking device on Rocketlauncher, Dual Wielding is possible and vehicles like the Ghost do not only look like the H2 (or 3) versions, but also can boost like these.
When you choose option two, you will play on the following maps:
- Lockout
- Ascension
- Midship
- Ivory Tower
- Beaver Creek
- Burial Mounds
- Colossus
- Zanzibar
- Coagulation
- Headlong
- Waterworks
- Foundation
- Containment
- Warlock
- Sanctuary
- Turf
- Backwash
- Elongation
- Gemini
- Relic
- Terminal
These maps will also be graphically updated, and will also only feature the weapons and vehicles found in the original Halo 2 maps. So in this case: no AR and no H1 pistol also no night vision on the sniper.
The third option is the Halo 3 map section. This one features only H3 maps, and is harder to describe than the previous two, since we don’t know which maps will be in the H3 Multiplayer. Therefore I have “designed” a couple of new maps myself. Here they are including a description of the map.
- Cairo:
Cairo is inspired by the H2 level named Cairo Station. This map is medium sized. About half of the map is indoor, but the other half will be outdoor in space. This means you will have to walk on top of Cairo station to get to the other side of the map. The lack of gravity outside will cause fallen Flags, dead bodies and Oddballs/bombs to fly away into space. The flags can still be taken while flying above the hull of the station, and the oddballs and bomb can be thrown to team mates by shooting it in their direction.
- Emerald:
This map is called Emerald for a reason, It is situated in a large forest. There are a lot of trees and bushes to take cover behind. A small creek runs through the middle of the map. It is about the same size of Coagulation. A great place for snipers and other medium to large distance combat. At one side of the map is a medium sized ruin with about 2 or 3 levels. To get an idea on the looks of this map, watch SW Return of the Jedi and take a look at the final battle on Endor, Emerald will look a bit like that.
- Death Fields:
Death Fields is an huge map (3 times the size of Coag.) that’s located just outside a big city. It Is a big open field with some hill and a lot of trenches. This is a very interactive map, there will be random airstrikes and other things like a Pelican crashing down on the map at a random time and place. There will be the possibility to drive almost every type of vehicle including Pelicans, Dropships (and machines like my Dragonfly). The map will look like a warzone with craters, fire and smoke.
- Break out:
Break out is located on a Covenant Battlecruiser. This Battlecruiser has been infected with Flood. The map is big, think about a map a bit bigger than terminal set inside a Battlecruiser. There will be hangars, a lot of hallways 3 levels. It looks a lot like Gemini only on a much larger scale. The Flood infection will cause those ugly blobs seen in the last level on High Charity to spread through the ship. Sometimes a Gravemind-like arm will burst through a wall, floor or sealing destroying the ship and making some hallways impossible to enter anymore.
- Crystal Towers:
This map is located on the top 3 floors/levels of 3 connected skyscrapers. The map is called Crystal Towers because of the big crystal like windows showing you the big city around you. It is a large sized map, about 3 Geminis combined on each tower (that’s one for each floor). There will be a park in one tower, a couple of office rooms in the other and a construction site on the last tower. Snipers can shoot their target through the windows.
- Labyrinth:
Labyrinth is a medium size map, located in a ancient Temple that looks vaguely like a Forerunner construct. It is a map filled with hallways and a big open space in the middle of the map. There is a waterfall in the middle of the map, and water runs through one half of the maps. There are trees growing in and on the temple. The narrow hallways ask for close combat, and therefore a shotgun is use full on this map.
- Shoreline:
This is a large map. It looks a bit like a mixture between Zanzibar and Headlong. The map basically looks like this:
Sea à Beach à Gate to city à City
I don’t have much to say on what works on this map, because it is Zanzibar and Headlong put together and we all know how these work. Basically everything works on this map, including air combat and boats on sea.
The fourth option Halo Trilogy maps, just means you will play on every map from the three games.
Every Matchmaking type except for Trilogy will be ranked.
