WELCOME TO DONCASTER - A MODERN IMAGE MODEL RAILWAY BASED ON THE EAST COAST MAINLINE IN YORKSHIRE

Doncaster is my model railway.  It is an attempt to recreate, in OO gauge, the modern ECML (including Doncaster station itself) in and around Yorkshire.  A full description of the layout can be found by clicking on "Description" immediately to the left of this page.  Otherwise, the site consists largely of photographs of the layout and the trains that run on it.  I do hope you enjoy your visit.  Should you have any questions or comments, please contact me via the appropriate link.

You might also like to see some recent developments at Doncaster on my other website; http://www.freewebs.com/doncasterblues; I hope you enjoy it.

58 047 wheels a southbound MGR through the approaches to Doncaster

Platform 4 is busy for the arrival of the morning Midland Mainline HST from St. Pancras to Leeds

47 806 runs into Doncaster with a Newcastle-bound Virgin Voyager substitute service

66610 humms past Doncaster PSB with a rake of empties

Passengers hurry to a waiting 158 forming a late-evening stopping service to Leeds as the rear power car of a York-bound HST screams past them

Not a train in sight as passengers await a late-evening GNER service to Newcastle

The NMT screams through Doncaster station on the down fast

The welcome return of Class 56 superpower to the ECML. Jarvis' 56 302 throbs away at Doncaster Depot

The locomotive was stripped using Precision Paints model stripper and then brush painted with acrylic paints from RailMatch.  It was completed with transfers from the Fox's range.  The front end grill and aerials were from the A1 range (who also supplied replacement grills, which, I'm afraid, I was too nervous to fit).  The paint stripper, paints and transfers are availabe from Fox's (www.fox-transfers.co.uk) and the grills, aerials and other etched enhancements are from A1 models (available from M.G. Sharp on www.mgsharp.com); the replacement lights are LEDs from my spares box.  The project took only a few hours (spaced apart to permit drying).  56 303 is currently in works and should be released to traffic before long.  Further pictures of this locomotive can be found in More Pictures III.

50 035 & 50 004 thunder through Doncaster station with a northbound tour. Two video downloads of this tour are available on the download page.

37 419 and 37 699 pass slowly through Doncaster with loaded JGAs whilst 47 744 awaits a southbound path with a Virgin XC service

A work-worn 60 078 passes slowly through Doncaster's platform 4 with loaded HAAs

60 026 and 60 016 pass on the mainline

A hastily-summoned 66 405 couples up to the failed NMT

57 002 "Freightliner Phoenix" - the first of My Bachmann 57s - pauses at Doncaster with a northbound container train. The model is excellent, but let down by a lack of pick ups requiring works attention before the loco can enter traffic

A work-stained 47 334 roars past the photographer at speed on the ECML

The same train from a different perspective

The same locomotive awaits the road through Doncaster station

HSTs pass at speed on the mainline

47 787 powers a loaded mail train along the up fast

A pair of work-stained EWS 37s suffer a signal check on the down slow

A smart 67 029 rushes past the lay-by with a heavy freight from the Continent

Another view of the same train
