About Donayne
We are Wayne and Donna Lewis from the prairies of Western Canada. Wayne is a retired Saskatchewan Government pilot and now enjoys a little farming. We have three children, Robyn, Penny and Ryan. Four grandchildren Jessica, Brett, Lance and Lucas. Penny is a Professional Handler in Canada, also runner-up for the first ever sportsmanship award in 2005 and her daughter Jessica was Saskatchewan's Top Junior Handler in 2003(Winner of Junior Sportsmanship Award Honor 2003 in Canada), 2004 and 2005. Lance, Lucas and Brett play minor hockey. Robyn works full time as an Education Assistant at the local public school and Ryan is busy with his job, wedding plans with his fiancé Dyane and his new future in Calgary, Alberta.

Our Permanently Registered kennel name is DONAYNE.

In 1976, we bought our first CKC Registered dog, a tri colored Rough Collie. Her registered name with official titles was OTCH Walker's Lady Madonna UD,SHCH. Elsa started me on a journey that I have continued for 30 years. We started in Obedience and then Scent Hurdle Racing. After a few years and trials she achieved her Utility Degree and her Scent Hurdle Title.  She wasn't a high scoring dog, but she taught me to be humble, to appreciate each Qualifying score, she also taught me patience. She was a great Junior handling dog for Robyn as well.

Elsa lived to a grand old age of 13. It broke my heart the day I made the decision to let her go to the Rainbow Bridge. I think of her often, with a smile. Without her, there would be no DONAYNE.

In the '80's, we purchased a Shetland Sheepdog puppy , Ch. Mantoga Undine CD. Our next was Ch. Shaylins' Fireside Dream.  They were nice girls, and retired early to great pet homes.

One weekend at a show, Wayne saw a little red dog he fell in love with. It was a Miniature Longhaired Dachshund. After some research on the breed, we found ourselves starting with a pet, and eventually purchasing a little red dapple girl with Dachschieder lines. Ch Malachi Seranade CD.( Sera) She was the light of our daughter, Penny's, eye. She used to ride on the bus with Penny, in her gym bag to go to Junior handling classes at our local kennel club. This breed was to show us what dogshows and having fun in the breed ring was all about. We bred, owned and showed one of Canada's top males in the '80's. Sera, who lived to be 17 years old, was the dam of a silver dapple we called Bandit, Can.Ch. Donayne's Flying Colors CD. and fly he did. Bandit was judged as he entered the ring, he self stacked, and moved like a dream. He was a Group winner, placer and a BISS winner. He was a producer of BIS and BISS puppies. He was a joy to work in the obedience ring...well, for a Dachshund. :o) Bandit is still in pedigree's of many dogs today. He lived to be 17 years old at Torihill Dachshunds. We have a son of Bandit's still living with us, Dylan...Torihill Donayne's Flight Plan.

I wanted a dog with a little more size to add to our family, so after watching a few of these dogs perform, I purchased a Keeshond from Kathy Stewart of Klompen Keeshonden in Alberta Canada. Breaker, Ch. Klompen's Heartbreaker Donayne CDX, FDCH was a great dog and had a zest for life. He achieved his Championship with a few BPIG, had his CDX and introduced me to the sport of Flyball and Superdog Agility. Bandit, Breaker and I performed with the Real Canadian Superdog shows when they came to our area, and loved being part of this group of dogs and people.

After Breaker, came our foundation bitch, Rain, Can.Ch. Jovan Donayne Cloudburst CD, a Am/ Can Klompen Tommy Tittlemouse daughter, from a breeder in California. Rain started us on a whirlwind tour, winning many Group wins, placings, and BPIShows. She also taught me that not all dogs do Obedience with the same amount of skill. Rain was a challenge, but did achieve her CD. She was the dam of Am.Can Ch. Donayne's Desert Snow ROM.( Ice.) Ice was a winner in Canada and the US, winning two Keeshond Specialty Sweepstakes in California, in the early '90's. Ice was the dam of Am Can Ch. Donayne's Winter Hawk,(WM/BW Keeshond National Specialty California 1996. AOM 1997 US Keeshond National Specialty Boston, Mass.) Am.Can.Ch. Donayne's Winter Sport WM/BW at Keeshond Specialties in Canada and the US. Ice went to live with the Manser's of Gemkees Keeshonden in California( now Washington) and was the dam of one of the top Kees in the USA BIS, BISS, Am.Can Ch.Geekees Scampering n the Snow, and Am. Can. Ch.Gemkees Desert Stardust. Her legacy lives on in her children and grandchildren.

Then there was Brooke, Deecinq Donayne Shameless CDX, SHCH. our Standard Poodle. Brooke just passed away in September 2006, she was 15 years old. We brought her home when she was 10 months old and have enjoyed every minute with her. She loved Scent Hurdle racing, she obtained her CDX in obedience and she played a little Flyball. One day my grandsons Lance and Lucas asked if they could take Brooke to school, just before Christmas, for show and tell. I got her all groomed up, put a red bow in her hair and off she went. She was a hit with the kids, as she was when we went on our visit's to seniors homes. The boys decided that Brooke should live with them after that day. She was the grand old lady keeping everyone in line and enjoying her senior years with them.

We had a lot of great dogs over the years, and, as you can see, I believe a happy dog is a dog with something to do.

In 1999, I finally saw the Sheltie I wanted again in our family. His temperament was exactly what I want in this versatile breed. So at 1 year of age, his breeder let him come home with me. He is now 7 yrs old and known as Ch. Borealis Summerlove Flash CD, NAFA 50K, SSGDC, ADC, NJC, NAC, NGC, TN-N. Flash is high drive, has a love for life. He loves to play Flyball and Agility. He is by Am.Ch.Toven Wintertide and Ch.Shadlars Borealis Lexus. Breeder's Judith Hutton and Karin Stevers and Larry Ermel. Flash has the temperament that I wish my shelties of many years ago would have had. At this time, Flash is the #11 Sheltie in the North American Flyball Association.

We have a young nephew of Flash with us as well, he is in training for everything..his name is Rush, Borealis Donayne Prairie Wind ( Can. ptd) Watch for him in many venues soon.

Ok, one more....We also have a Border Collie. Quest lives life to the fullest. She plays Flyball for the fun of it and has earned her Onyx Title. She is training for Agility and will keep me on my toes. She has some obedience training and once in a while needs a refresher course. All she wants to do is "something" and do it fast!.

We belong to KAOS DOGSPORTS INC. I teach Obedience and Conformation classes, Agility classes, Flyball and the occasional Conformation Handling Class with many of my fellow members and dogsport enthusiasts.

Wayne and I have made many good friends in this hobby of ours over the years and we truly feel that, Life is too short not to have a happy, well  rounded dog as part of your family.

I hope you have enjoyed walking down memory lane of the last 30 years with us.
