We hope you find this site easy to use, it is updated on a daily basis. On this page you'll find our latest news and appeals. Everything else you need to know is on the menu on the left hand side of the page. Please check out our 'Dogs for adoption' page and 'Other animals' page. Thankyou!
We collected 4 gorgeous 8 week old kittens (1 female, 3 male) from a pound in wales today along with a particularly handsome young adult neutered male cat called Gordon. If you would like to offer any of these beautiful felines a home please contact Lyn Venal on 01934 820038.
Rosemary wants to say a special thankyou to the team of people who work tirelessly, who give it their all and work very long hours on a purely voluntary basis making sure the dogs we take in get the homes they deserve.
So a big Thankyou to Jon for all the driving he does, he drives miles each week picking up dogs from all over the place and bringing them safely back to us.
A big thankyou to Pete, Diane and Lyn who deal with all enquiries from the public and who arrange all our homevets etc.
And last but not least a big thankyou to Louise our foster coordinator who makes sure all our rescued dogs are matched up with the right fosterers and that everyone is happy.
Without all of the above, Dogsfriends wouldn't be able to carry on, all the dogs that come through here owe their lives to these people.
Thankyou!
We need more fosterers, the more we have the more dogs we can help. You could make a real difference and save a life by volunteering for us. Please visit our 'Could you foster for us' page for more information and then contact Louise our foster coordinator if you think you could help.
Louise, Maisie, Pete and Diane managed to raise £108 at the greyhound rescue dogs picnic in the park sunday afternoon. Thankyou.
If you are looking to adopt a rescue cat or kitten, please contact Lyn Venal on 01934 820038.
Lyn often also has feral cats and kittens looking for homes.
We would like to say a big thankyou to Jonny Florey who owns 'The Pet Shop' in Shirehampton, for his generous donations he has given us for our 'Doggie lucky dip' at our fundraising events.
For more information and a map please click on this link 'The Pet Shop' .
A big thankyou to Claudia aged 11 who organised and held a Teddy Bears Picnic, with prizes for the best dressed teddy bear at Redmaids junior School and raised £81.00. Thankyou so much!

Here is a picture of our stall at the Yate festival, for which we won best dressed stall and £50 cheque for dogsfriends! We also raised £206 plus the cheque so well worthwhile, but hard work! Cheers, Diane.
Here are some photos from our July dogshow! There were hundreds to choose from and obviously we can't put them all on the site, so we've picked out some of our favourites! Enjoy!

A big thanks to Phyllis who attended the Lawrence Weston carnival for Dogs Friends and raised a much appreciated £66 for our funds. Thanks!

Big thanks to Zoe and Jody who ran a DF stall at their local school's fete. They made about £20, and as a direct results of their efforts on that day another puppy was rehomed. Well done guys!
A big thankyou to the Langford Trust guys who let us have a stand at their recent show. We made about £85, and gave out loads of details of our own up-coming show.
A big thanks to those who worked tirelessly at the recent Bristol Vegan Fayre in May. A magnificent profit of over £500 was made, not to mention a new fosterer or two! I hope those who helped out had as much fun as I did!
Fosterers, and those who support us by doing fund-raising etc, might want to consider the new look DF t-shirts. Subtle they aren't - but they aren't supposed to be! They were worn to great effect at the recent vegan fayre, attracting much interest in our work.
Essentially, you supply us with the shirt of your choice, and i'll get in printed with the usual DF logo on the left chest, and our web address in bold on the back. We found navy shirts polo shirts with dayglo orange writing worked well!
A printer local to me does the print work for a flat fee of £5.

At the vegan fayre we were talking to the nice lady from Flax Farm Linseed. She was extolling the virtues of linseed for dogs. Apparently it is very good for skin and digestive issues. Snowy the Westie, who suffers from collitis, is testing this by having a sprinkle of the linseed meal with his dinner - I'll keep you posted with the results! If you would be interested to help the farm with its informal research on the benefits of linseed on dogs, please contact the farm via www.flaxfarm.co.uk. They would love to hear from you as they are looking to recruit more guinea pigs (so to speak).
Please click here for some information on flaxseed itself. Thankyou.
Is there anyone out there handy with a needle? To help with our fundraising and awareness raising efforts, it would be really good to have some dog costumes made. We have found that they have helped to attract people over to us! If you could help, could you email Georgina at gcp123@btinternet.co.uk
