Dodochicky and Dodo Central

Hello everyone! I'm Dodochicky, the 30-year-old creator and compiler of this wee site here. My major interests are films, TV and books, narrowly pipping drawing and story-writing to the top of my list of favourite things to do. I'm pretty much a loner at heart, happiest when left to my own devices, but I also love making friends and sharing thoughts, jokes and ideas. I've always had an interest in many the creatures which are now lost to us - from dinosaurs and the early birds, via the inimitable dodo, right through to the very recently extinct thylacine of Australasia and beyond. But once I began to research dodos, I became totally enthralled with the tale behind the bird's rise and demise as it is such a tragic one. I tend to be obsessive about learning and knowing, so the research became more and more detailed.

As for the site, Dodo Central was born in March 2007 thanks to Freewebs and encouragement from a friend of mine.  I love a UK TV series "Primeval" (please click here to visit the official Primeval site, here for the unofficial fansite/blog and here for the wonderful unofficial forum). In episode four, a flock of delightful dodos appear and I fell in love with them! So, I wandered over the the unofficial forum and was happily chatting about dodos when a friend suggested that if I liked dodos so much, why not make a site about them. I demurred, fretting that I had too many sites to work on already. But, the more I tried not to think about it, the more the idea ate away at my resolve. Within two days of the suggestion, I knew I had to do it, if only to satisfy my natural curiosity. I got hooked! *lol*

Aside from being a beautifully odd-looking bird (I love the world's oddities, being rather odd myself. Hehe!), it became clear that there was more to the dodos than traditional tales told. And with you, dear visitor, I share as much information as I possibly can. For your enjoyment and education.

Dodochicky.
