A Pastoral counselor is usually a member of the clergy.Someone who cares for others and their directions in life and uses talk therapy Incorporating body, mind and spirit; Responding to clients as wonderful persons; Respecting the diversity of human spiritual experience and expression; Seeing the possibilities for hope and growth in painful life events; Seeing of course that human beings are individuals yearning for relationships

The separation of church and state provisions of the United States Constitution prohibit government agencies from licensing or supervising Pastoral Psychotherapists. There are many Pastoral Psychotherapists in private practice. Pastoral Psychotherapists also serve as institutional Chaplains in prisons, universities, hospitals, and hospice facilities. Pastoral Psychotherapists frequently specialize in marriage and family counseling.
