| I hand selected my breeders from Doug Moody's collection back in the late 90's. Doug is credited with having hatched out the first amelanistic nelson's milk snake in the world. I have been told that Doug sold a clutch of normal looking nelson's from a first year breeding of one of his pairs and the next year that same pair produced an amelanistic specimen, which meant that they were heterozygous for this characteristic. Those that bought Doug's normal looking babies the year before really made out when they bred them and realized they had the ability to produce amelanistic babies. Although these lucky folks were producing some amelanistic nelson's around the same time Doug started to, this genetic characteristic originated from Doug's stock .
A mutual friend introduced me to Doug in 1999. It was a wonderful opportunity to visit his facilities and to have the chance to cherry-pick some nelson's from his stock. I looked at numerous specimens that he had hatched out in 1998 and 1999 and selected my animals for their brick red coloration and wide red bands with thin triads. Our adults are spectacular and produce amazing babies. Our goal is to produce hatchlings with very thin triads. If you like red, then these nelson's are for you! |
