El Bee came to us from the pound on Sept 15th, 1987. She was a birthday
present for my son Robbie. According to the shelter she is a Blue Tick
Hound and was approx 6 months old when we adopted her. She stands 20
inches high at the shoulder and for most of her adult life she has
weighed 40-45 lbs. Currently she is down to 36 lbs due to atrophy of
the muscles in her hindquarters. In March 2005 we will celebrate her
18th birthday.

Adult Depends-with elastic bands and buttons (NOT VELCRO)

-

Giant Brand- bag says "Extra Absorbency Belted Undergarments"

Each bag has a pair of elastic straps. Sew same size button in middle
of a strap. You will only need one strap to secure diaper.

Giant brand is on the bottom. The blue area makes it very easy to
determine which is the inner side. Very messy when reversed.

For El Bee we cut approx 5-6 inch slit in center of one end of diaper.
Blue on Giant brand makes this very easy to repeat.

Attach elastic to one button hole on non-split end.

Like this.

Put non-split end under abdomen and fasten diaper with elastic strap
going over her back and securing strap to the diaper with button.
El Bee tends to toddle off during this application so I corral her
gently with my knees.

Pass diaper between legs under tail. Separate split ends around tail.
Fasten first one then the other end on the center button.

It should look like this. The diaper should raise the tail slightly and
create a pouch. If your slit is too long the diaper will fit too
closely to the rump and she can poop right out of the end of the
diaper.

Finished product.

El Bee is quite narrow in the waist. A bigger dog might need a longer
piece of elastic or even two pieces sewn together.

For a smaller dog the buttons could be moved closer together.

It may appear that the diaper is restrictive but I don't think it
bothers her. She walks like this without the diaper. To remove diaper
unbutton or just pull off and then unbutton. Be careful not to spill
contents.

El Bee got tired of posing for pictures and laid down. No problem-this
is what it looks like.

You might have to experiment with the depth of the split to fit hte
diaper to your dog.

The diaper should NOT be a snug fit. Only the elastic on the edges of
the diaper should touch your dog. El Bee drinks a lot and pees
accordingly-approx 8 0z 0r more at a time! The diaper usually does its
job even when she lays down afterward.

Occasionally I wipe her bottom if she has had a messy BM otherwise she
stays pretty dry. After three months of wearing this night and day
(except for walks) she has had no rash or noticeable discomfort.

Hope this helps someone else.

Thank you Lord for the loan of El Bee.

Rob Carter
