[CLOSE WINDOW TO RETURN TO "NEWS & MESSAGES"]

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in May.  My doctor caught it very early.  My blood test showed a normal PSA count, but it had been rising the last two years.  I was referred to a urologist for a biopsy.  I have finished the first part of my treatment, external 3d conformational radiation last Monday, 7/11.  I will have radioactive seeds implanted on 8/9 and that should be it.  I haven't suffered any symptoms of the cancer nor any side effects from the treatment.  My prognosis is very favorable.  I've been a very fortunate guy.  I'm glad I was in the habit of getting yearly checkups and that I had a watchful doctor who ordered the PSA test with the rest of the blood tests.  And I have a good radiation oncologist who explains everything well at his web site at http://www.aboutcancer.com

(We are sorry to hear about Randy's ordeal but so glad he's doing well.  Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.  Yearly checkups are so important...thank goodness Randy was so diligent).
