Dinorwic light railway

Steam locomotives

Robin

Robin (MSS) was the first locomotive on the line and was the main work horse during Winter2005/Spring 2006. Since then it has been upgraded with water top up system, higher pressure safety valve, regulator kit and a new tender. In May 2008 it was estimated that Robin has done about 300 real miles. More recent modifications include new 'o' ring cylinders, lubricator and lighting

Dougal

This is the second locomotive to arrive on the line (15 July 2006), and was the favourite engine until the arrival of Bertie.  Dougal is a Mamod upgraded with a higher pressure valve and water top-up system. Some later upgrades include a full repaint, vaporising burner and sandboxes.

Bertie

This loco is a Roundhouse Bertie made in Doncaster and has had a water top up and sight glass fitted along with brass dome, chimney cap and working whistle. This is the most powerful loco and has become the pride of the line

Condor

The latest arrival to the railway. Bought in January of 2008, Condor is a rare Finescale peckett. This loco is gas fired, has a pressure gauge fitted, an exaust regulator, top up valve and has a run time of about 40 minutes.

Falcon

Falcon is a vertical boiler loco based on a De Winton design. This loco was built in the lines own workshops and uses one of Robin's old cylinders

Jake
The lines latest and largest loco, an Accucraft Lawley model. This loco has 6 wheels instead of all the other locos 4 wheels, this gives it more traction. It is a very smooth running loco and has a strong exhuast beat. Apart from a few teething troubles it will be a fine loco

 Diesel locomotives

Harry

Harry is the first diesel on the line. It is a scratch built body running on a front bogie from a tri-ang blue diesel.

Jack

Jack is from IP engineering and is the most powerfull loco. Since arriving the loco has had some trouble which has been sorted (so I thought). The loco is fitted with a Roundhouse rechargeable battery and can run for about 5 or 6 hours on one charge.

This little loco is built on a Cambrian models chassis kit and uses Accucraft wheels

20HP Simplex

This little diesil is the newst arrival to the line. It is powered by 2 AA batteries and seems to be quite happy in its new home.
