Alfriston College in Manurewa recently hosted me as part of their guest artists in schools programme. I spoke to about 40 Young people/teens about my journey and career as an artist/dj/maori role model and also gave a dj demonstration that saw them have a go at djing. I also returned to the school a few days later to dj during one of their lunchtime sessions ending my week of DJ Poroufessors School antics. Boy can these kids KRUMP!!!!!!!!! Thanks to Alfriston College, Amy Taite & Dwayne Hudson. See you soon.

CYFS Residential Manurewa also had me to come and talk/perform to the inhouse children in their care. This was a different type of class im used to talking too -these kids were clever on the ones n twos and keen to learn from me! I commend CYFs for utlising new intiatives and seeking artists such as myself to form new interventions for our young people. We need to take care of our families and encourage our young people in their aspirations. Kia kaha CYFS.

Locally in Manurewa, Club 220 has hosted two banging hiphop events...a Big show from STH Aucklands Deceptikonz, my bros were showing some homegrown love in Manurewa, lookout for the new album instore October 06 "Heavy Rotation". Upcoming Producer Lerch also put on Speak Ezy, a new hiphop forum show for upcoming acts to get their tracks out to public ear...I must admit i really enjoyed djing this nite for some reason!!! must have been the loud speakers!! biggups!!

TYREE & Smashproof What!!!!!! Move the Crowd records are definately making moves with Tyree over in Australia soon supporting Jay Z!!! Rihanna & Neyo!!! what...support these artists their slick, can rap till the chickens come home and are Aotearoa homegrown...also biggups to my bros JUSE, Mase and Toni Cooper!!! 

OLD SKOOL RYDZ my lowrider car family recently celebrated 6 years as a lowriding family. We rolled down to Jucyaz's crib in Cambrigde & put on a carshow & shine, sizzle and I later I cut it up on the ones n twos in true party style ...thats how we do it OLD SKOOL... check us out at www.oldskoolrydz.com

KANYE WEST!!! Poroufessor played a Industry VIP Afterparty for Kanye West was held at club 420 on K Rd. Later I went down FUBAR featuring DJ ATrak (Kanye's Tour DJ) featuring my dj comrades DJ Sirvere and DJ Raw in support. 

DE LA SOUL was the madness, as was SNOOP DOGGY DOGG (also got to meet and greet his Tour DJ CRAZY TOONZ at the afterparty!!

DJ CRAZE!!! Poroufessor supported the Multiple World DMC Champion at the ST James in Auckland. What an awesome gig with Dj Craze displaying 2 dj trick sets in hip hop and drum n bass styles, the highlight was an end of the nite freestyle session featuring Poroufessor, DJ Manchoo and DJ CXL.

2005 was the last Aotearoa Hiphop Summit. DJ Poroufessor was once again making a big noise. Organising the "biggest" dj workshop in NZ history. A massive 20 Turntable Jam session. It was pure scratch heaven placing new djs and the old pros together in friendly composition mode.

ART & SOUL

Visual Art is also a big part of Hones life, hes produced work for corporate and private collections and recieved awards for illustration work. Hes exhibited in galleries throughout New Zealand first showing my work at the age of 11 at the Nga Puna Waihanga (Maori Artists & Writers Society) Conference in Gisborne. Currently enjoying recent Illustration projects such as the Wai Ora Water campaign work (ARC Auckland Regional Council).

Hone was selected to design, carve and paint a Waharoa (Gateway) for Aucklands refurbished Whitireia Polytechnic on Queen Street, Auckland. This was unveiled by The Mayor Of Auckland Dick Hubbard. 

Curatorial experience: When not spinning Records Hone has also worked as a Museum Curator in Tauranga, exhibition hand at the Bathouse in Rotorua resulting in 14 months placement at Field Museum Of Natural History in Chicago USA. He was employed as a Anthropology Intern enjoying the fast paced living of USA spending 14 months in Chicago USA. Hes was part of a large Team of Experts restoring 'Ruatepupuke' an 18th century Meeting House from Tokomaru Bay (on the East Coast of NZ) returning to NZ he  proceeded to carve Kahutapu- his Mothers Meeting House in Tauranga, Bay of Plenty.

DJ POROUFESSOR APPAREL  A Contemporary Maori Artist with skills diverse his Maori art & interests in Hiphop lead him to form his own small business selling his unique clothing brands. This is one of the old designs but most successful designs. The famous "MAORI BY NATURE" tee shirt design that has been copied by the multitudes first designed/printed in 1995 still printing today in 2008.

DJ Poroufessor has been a NZMIC Mentor in Schools Teacher for a few years now. A Ministry of Education funded programme this takes us (Musicians) into schools enabling students to get first hand info from their role models, it also means artists get to do their thing in the schools...lastly its free for the school!
