Giovanni has been a passionate photographer since 1988. He has a
hairdressing salon in Sydney and has helped him to explore photography over the years. He has also
participated in numerous joint photography exhibitions and competitions.
Some of his entries in the competitions have either won or come runner up
.His images are included in portfolios for models all over the
world and posters for the hairdessing industry.
Giovanni’s most recent work October 2005 Jan 2006
working from his salon in Leichhardt is featured in monochrome and high
contrast images of human emotions and states inspired by both professional and amateur models that
he has encountered from his hairdressing salon and recommendations. Giovanni’s
photographs are to be the subject of a forthcoming workshop and tour which will
enable him and his crew to take part in photography sessions in outback
towns/cities.Giovanni works with equally talented makeupartist and stylist which tour on his
workshops.
Giovanni specializes in creating comprehensive bodies of work that capture the essence of his subjects. Over the years his subjects have included:
Beautiful Bodies & Beings" is the body of photographic works
created by Giovanni during the recent years. He has spent most of his
time photographing in Sydney NSW. The images are not the traditional ones you
would expect of Australian photographer. Rather they are high contrast to semi-abstract images using the colors and shapes and angle to create a beautiful
image that still represents the models in a sexy manner but could almost be viewed
by anyone of almost any age, and above all else the play of light, to seek to recreate
the feelings, emotional responses and spirituality evoked by the beauty of the
women. This is a work which uses the emotive power of color and the subtleness
of suggested shapes and poses to evoke from the viewer the feelings of his or
her own experiences . The images hint at beautiful Bodies & Beings.
Some
of these works are manipulated images to increase color and contrasts only.
The photographer doesn't use a computer program such as Photoshop to combine
multiple images or to alter an image to add something that wasn’t there or to
remove something that was. They are not created by multiple exposures. Each
photograph is as it came out of the camera (with the only adjustments being for
lightness/darkness and contrast). The photographs or models could also be
available,Subject to permission from the models, for more info just contact Diva by Giovanni via email
Artist Statement
My purpose of these works is to demonstrate the power of photography as an semi-abstract art form and to convey the emotive power of color and poses in a pictorial photographic style. I hope that this website will help to develop a more distinctively Australian style of semi abstract people photography
.
