I am honored to be relieving Wor. Jack Sutton as the District Ambassador to the 18th Masonic District. I take this responsibility seriously and I am excited about the opportunity we have in our district to expand awareness of, and membership in, The Craft.
Our beloved Grandmaster, M.W. Roger William Pageau, and the Chairman of the Masonic Ambassador Program, Wor. Philip Nowlan, have been heavily focused on the development of the Ambassador Program this year. The vision is that Ambassadors will be the "face" of Masonry in their respective communities. Ambassadors will interact with the press in the local community (where appropriate) and be at the forefront of the charge to expand membership in our ancient ranks. An active Ambassador will take responsibility for the success of our bi-annual Square & Compass days, and will also guide the newest Masons in his lodge as they progress through the degrees. He will also stand for all of the necessary paperwork and participation for all new candidates, until the candidate has signed the by-laws.
This is an especially important role as new membership is the life-blood of our great and noble fraternity. All Masons who step into such a role should be lauded for their stand. It is our job as brothers to help all new Ambassadors settle into this new responsibility. We have in effect created a new position in the Officer's ranks with a new work load.
The next Ambassador's training will be on September 26th in Marlboro in preparation for Square & Compass day on Oct. 17th, A.L. 6009. The training is necessary to excel in the Ambassador's position. Master's, please assist me in getting contact information for all of your Ambassador's or if you still lack one, please contact me if to help in choosing someone from your lodge who would thrive in the role.
Some of the Districts in our state have had success with or are proposing a district-wide Ambassador's meeting. I am planning to hold one over the summer in our "dark" months, as this may be easier for many of us who already have many attendence obligations throughout the year. My thoughts are that a once-per-year pow-wow among th Ambassadors in our District will keep us all on the same page, and better prepare us for the membership push for the upcoming year.
Please contact me at the Webmaster's address below.
Thank You
Bro. S. Joseph Palmieri III
