The Meaning of the AntiSubud Symbol The spiral represents the hypnotized eye. There are seven loops in the spiral representing various stages of silliness progressing from the inner loop to the outer. The inner loop of the spiral represents near consciousness, and the outer loop represents total, er, loopiness. The seven jagged spokes of the AntiSubud symbol represent the seven burst veins of disillusionment: 1. Realizing that what you do outside of latihan has no effect on your latihan. 2. Realizing that what you experience during latihan has no effect on your daily life. 3. Comprehending exactly how large the Subud organization is relative to how few members it serves. 4. Comparing the worldly success of those in Subud with those not. 5. Realizing that even the most highly-regarded members have obvious faults that they shouldn't. 6. Discovering that nearly everyone does latihan counterclockwise. 7. Experiencing how wonderful life can be when not always worrying about how it affects your inner-self/soul/jiwa. The spiral is blood red (except on this page where grey is permitted) and the background is white. Note: No copyright or trademark is held on the AntiSubud symbol by its creators. Like all other religious symbols, it is freely given to the public domain. Back to the main page.
