HOCKEY CARD COLLECTING

My collections

Players I collect

I used to collect cards of a few different players. These players have one thing in common. They have all at one point played for one of my favourite teams, Toronto Maple Leafs or Swedish clubs Djurgarden or the local heroes from my childhood, Huddinge IK, affectionally called Huddinge Tigers or simply Huddinge Hockey. I am not necessarily wanting every card of every player. Stickers, team issues and oversized cards are always a low priority. I have also decided to skip most of the parallels from recent years.

ALBELIN, TOMMY. Played for Djurgarden 1982-87. Two-time Stanley Cup winner with New Jersey Devils,
also played for Quebec Nordiques and Calgary Flames. I'd like to get all his cards, stickers and team issues that will fit
into the regular 9-pocket pages. I have 63 of 67. I also have two personally signed cards, received in the mail. One
of those shown above.

BERGLUND, CHARLES. Played for Huddinge Hockey 1984-86, Djurgarden 1987-95, 1997-2001.
Captained the Swedish team to the Olympic Gold medal 1994, previously winning a World Championships Gold medal in 1991.
Has won five Swedish Championships with Djurgarden. I own at least one copy of his 26 cards and stickers!
I have four personally signed cards, one received in the mail, the others signed by him on two different occations.

BLOMSTEN, ARTO. Played for Djurgarden 1983-93. Defenseman who scored an empty-netter to make it 5-3
and bury the Finns in the 1992 World Championships Final and secure Sweden's second successive World title.
Played for Winnipeg Jets and Los Angeles Kings. I have all his 17 cards. He has also appeared on nine stickers,
I need four of those. I have three personally signed cards, one received in the mail, two when I met him in person
in Stockholm October 6th 2005.

BOUMEDIENNE, JOSEF. Started out with Huddinge Hockey 1994-96. Defenseman who scored on his NHL debut
for the Devils in 2001. Rewarded with a trade to Tampa Bay Lightning after a solitary game. Has also suited up for
Washington Capitals. I am looking for all his cards, got 26 out of 27 including the BAP Emerald shown on the pic
above, #d 10/10. Missing only the Beckett promo 01-02 Parkhurst, a lower priority.

CARLSSON, CALLE. Another defenseman who started out with Huddinge Hockey 1989-96. He has played in France,
Germany and Great Britain and for AIK in the Swedish Elite League. A nice challenge collecting his cards. To my knowledge
he has one RC, 1992-93 Upper Deck #228, one Huddinge Hockey team issued card (pictured), one telephone card while
with AIK, one German card and six UK team issues. I have one copy of each! And a signed version of the Huddinge card,
incidentally the only set the club has ever produced.

FALK, NICHLAS. Center forward who started out with Huddinge Hockey, played for them 1988-95. Then he moved
to Djurgarden in the Elite League. Won a World Championships title with Sweden in 1998 and two Swedish Championships
with Djurgarden, 2000 and 2001. I have 30 of his 31 cards. Also a test print card from the 1995-96 Swedish Leaf Rookies set.
I have three personally signed cards, one received in the mail, two signed in person and three different signed Djurgarden
team issues.

FERNHOLM, DANIEL. Big defenseman who joined Djurgarden from Mora in 2001. Spent the 2001/02 season
with
Huddinge Hockey
clocking up ice time and experience needed in order to be able to establish himself in the Elite League.

GARPENLOV, JOHAN. Played for Djurgarden 1986-90 and season 2000/01 before injury forced him to retire.
Gold medalist for Sweden in the World Championships 1991 and 1992. NHL clubs Detroit, San Jose, Florida and Atlanta.
I have concentrated my collection to his regular size cards in licenced sets and Swedish issues. I have 124 cards on my list,
needing only two to make it complete. I am missing 9 out of his 12 stickers, but these are of lower priority. I have six
personally signed cards.

seasons, scoring 88 goals in the process. Previous NHL experience 1996-99 with Calgary and Montreal. I have all his regular
cards during his stay with the Maple Leafs, 34 different. I have one personally signed card (pictured above), received in the mail.

JOHANSSON, MIKAEL. Born and raised in the Stockholm suburb of Huddinge he went through the youth scheme at Huddinge,
breaking into the first team in 1982.

winning four Swiss Championships in five seasons. World Championships Gold medals in 1991 and 1998.

KABERLE, TOMAS. Skilful Czech defenseman who has been a vital member of the Toronto Maple Leafs' roster since 1998.

KNUTSEN, ESPEN. The Norwegian superstar of hockey who became a firm favourite with the Djurgarden fans.
Played for the Stockholm club 1994-97 and 1998-2000, winning a Swedish Championships Gold medal before leaving for a
second spell in the NHL. The first one, with Anaheim in 1997/98 wasn't a success. The second time,
now with Columbus,
Espen did a little better. Unfortunately injuries hampered him and he returned to Djurgarden during the 2003/04 season only
to spend more time in the treatment room than on the ice. During the summer of 2005 he retired because his injuries.
I have all his cards in Djurgarden uniform plus most of his other regulars and inserts. Collection closed.
