Pelé

Born: October 23rd, 1940 - Tres Coracoes, Brazil.

Full name: Edson Arantes do Nascimento

He was only 17 when he played in the World Cup for Brazil.

Position: Forward

Goals: 77 International goals

After retiring from his Brazilian team of Santos, he signed the play with the New York Cosmos. When he played with New York, he attracted an amazing amount of fans to watch him play. Another thing thats happened when he signed with New York, was that he increased the interest in soccer in America.

Mia Hamm

Born: March 17th, 1972 - Selma, Alabama

Full name: Mariel Margaret Hamm

At age 15, she was the youngest to ever play on the national team. In 1991, the Women's World Cup was won by the US Women's team. Mia Hamm was on that team, and that made her the youngest american female to ever recieve a women's world cup championship.

Hamm has recieved many awards including Female Athlete of the year, soccer player of the year, and she was named among the most beautiful people in the world by People magazine.

When Mia Hamm retired, which was just last year, she holds the record for most goals made by anyone internationally, male or female. She has made an amazing 158 goals throughout her entire soccer career.

David Beckham

  • Born: May 2, 1975 - Leystone, London
  • Full name:David Robert Joseph Beckham
  • Midfielder
  • 1991 he signed for Manchester United. He played with this team until 2003 when he signed a £21 mil. ($41 mil) contract with Real Madrid.

    Beckham currently plays for Real Madrid and is captain of English national team.

    Freddy Adu

    Born: June 2, 1989 - Tema, Ghana

    Position: Forward

    Adu moved to the United States in 1997. In 2003, at the age of 14 he signed a MLS contract. This made him the youngest person to ever play for the MLS. He plays for the D.C. United.

    Adu has turned down offers for big-time European teams to play for United. Many other teams have wanted Freddy to play for them - he chose DC United because it's close to home (Potomac, MD) Nobody can believe how amazing he is on the field - coaches that have doubted him because of his age rethink themselves once Adu is on the field.
