Whilst fairly new to the wonderful past time of birdwatching, I thought it might be an idea to actually log record what I see whilst out and about. I'm trying to learn how to digiscope so please forgive the shots that get posted....... I'm trying!!
I've only been interested in birdwatching for about the last four years following a holiday we had in Aviemore. We were on our way back to the apartment having walked the dog when we came across a group of "birders" watching a cliff face. Being interested, I asked what they were looking at and from that moment on, I was hooked. The sight of Peregrine so close up was just amazing. Since then, I try to get out whenever I can at weekends and am trying to learn how to digiscope so please forgive the shots that get posted............... I'm trying.
Equipment currently being used - Kowa 611 with a 30 x lens and a Nikon 4500; Leica 8 x 32 BA. To prove that I am serious about this hobby, we've chosen to go down the route of second hand equipment just to ensure that I am going to remained focused. I'm hoping that in the not to distance future, I'll be able to upgrade the scope to one with an ED lens or at least the HDF 20 x 60 zoom.
I've now been able to purchase my first DLSR so am slowly getting to grips with the 350d. I'm using a 75 - 300mm lens which so far, has produced some nice shoots. All in the practice like digiscoping but everyone I've spoken too, has been very helpful and kind in word.
For the day job, I work for a vehicle management company called QEK Global Solutions based at Upper Heyford Nr Bicester. I've been with the company since December 1995 and am beginning to feel like part of the furniture now. Having been in various departments I'm currently heading up what is known as the Defleet department.
My back ground was mainly linked to the forces and I guess I've spent more than half of my life travelling about. Having been known as "an Army brat" travelling about the place, I then went and married into it as well only this time to be known as "excess bagagge". What wonderful terms we got used too
. My schooling was based mainly in and around Germany and I'm pleased to say, that my last secondary school has a wonderful web site. Take a look and see what our reunions have been like - I've sure civvy schools don't have as much fun as we've had
