NATIONAL HISTORY

Delta Xi Nu Multicultural Sorority was founded by five women on October 7, 1997 in order to promote cultural awareness and diversity on the Texas A&M University Campus and surrounding Bryan/College Station area. Jaime Slaughter, Jetje Brewton, Adrienne Magirl, Rena Kharbat, and Lesliam Quiros established Delta Xi Nu Multicultural Sorority with the mission to promote diversity and cultural awareness. Being African American, Dutch, Irish/Mexican, Palestinian, and Puerto Rican, they wanted to tell the world that it was their differences that had brought them together and made them stronger.

COLONY HISTORY

The Zeta Colony of Delta Xi Nu Multicultural Sorority, Inc. was established on April 29, 2006 by founding sisters Melissa Brown, Ashley Bonner, Victoria Idio, LaKayla Cooper and Monica Brown. However, the expansion journey for the ladies at UT Arlington began long before the spring of 2006. Beginning in October of 2005, this diverse group of women embarked on the road to becoming an official interest group of Delta Xi Nu. The acronym D.I.A.M.O.N.D. was chosen to represent the interest group and their purpose for the UT Arlington campus. D.I.A.M.O.N.D. stands for Diverse Individuals Acknowledging Multiculturalism (&) Opening New Doors. The group agreed that if there was one thing needed at UT Arlington, it was definitely a group that would actively promote cultural awareness and diversity. After meeting all of the requirements to become an official interest group of Delta Xi Nu, it was time to begin the process of colonization. In addition to working towards colonization, these women also began the process to becoming sisters of this great sorority, which brings us to the present; the Zeta Colony at UT Arlington. The colony philanthropy is sexual awareness and the annual signature event is "Stomp Out AIDS"- a step show to promote unity. Though the Zeta Colony has come very far in a short time, the journey is far from over. The next step is to become an official chapter of Delta Xi Nu, which completes the expansion process. We are women on a mission and we will acheive our goal. Zeta chapter, here we come!
