Diabetes Digest

WELCOME to the online edition of your Diabetes Digest.

Most of our colleagues and diabetic care providers were familiar with the printed version of our periodical Diabetes Digest since 2001.  The idea was started in Ibn Sina teaching hospital in Mosul-Ninevah in Iraq, where the first issue of the printed version, was planed and born as the first Iraqi periodical for diabetic care. From that first issue with 8 photocopied pages, to this online version a long journey started with one step, which it was never an easy one. In fact, looking back over the last few years, almost every issue has been larger than the previous one revealing Diabetes Digest consistent, sustained growth & popularity. We are happy for this progress and many thanks to you, our readers and our colleagues whom support the periodical and whom work with us during these five years to reach this achievement.

As always, we aim to keep you abreast of new developments, so some of the highlights in this online version include a CME on inhaled insulin and a review article on developments in insulin therapy, together with the stories and long journey of the diabetes pioneers in the diabetes history section. You will also find, as usual, the regular columns.

I need to admire the big support for the periodical, from Mosul Continuing Medical Education Center and the center director Dr Ayad Al Ramadhani and his wonderful team, as well as all Ninevah health directorate directors since 2001 whom support us in our journey to this station.

Great respect and many thanks to the editorial advisors for their efforts and time, specially Professor Taher Al Dabbagh, consultant endocrinologist in Mosul medical college, and Professor  Waad Alla Sharif Mulla Abid, clinical biochemist  in Royal hospital in Oman. Thanks to my colleague Dr Nabeel Najib Fadhil from Ninevah medical college for his support and continuing the journey with me for the printed version this year 2005.

We value your input, so do keep writing in with your comments & suggestions, your feedback and advice will enrich Diabetes Digest with a better look.

Have a nice journey with your periodical and stay informed.

Enjoy the issue.
