About Me


So who am I, and why am I doing this?

My Weight Watchers online name is Dhiammara and, as of January 6th 2005 I weighed 16 stone 9lbs. My goal weight is 9st 2lbs. A huge motivating factor for me is that my partner of eight years and I are planning to get married and there's no way on earth that I'm going to be a fat bride. The last time I was 9 stone something was back in 1994, so (if you're good at mental arithmetic) you'll realise that my partner has never known me at goal weight. It saddens me that he's seen me in photos when I was happy with my weight, and had far more energy. I am going to get to goal this time (for myself and for him).

About me

I'm a 37 year old Scottish woman who moved down to Kent back in 1999. All my family are back home in Scotland. I have an Honours degree in Biochemistry, and since moving to Kent changed fields to IT. I was a victim of the dot com crashes and am currently working as a temp in a call centre for an automobile organisation. My short term goal is to get out of that ASAP but have been using the time to get my IT certifications up to date. My partner is also looking for work at the moment, so this is not the easiest of times for us financially.

To some this may seem to be an odd time to start a weight loss programme. However, what has sabotaged my previous attempts has been the occurence of stressful events. We've had two ectopic pregnancies (July 19th 2001, and Sept. 12th 2002) which both sent me off the rails, as did work (or lack of) problems, and family health crises over the last two years. I've been successful on Weight Watchers in the past, and know it works when I'm on plan, so by starting during a period of stress I feel this will take my mind off other problems, give me something on which to focus my attention (especially when bored to tears at work), and even better, feel even more motivated as I see results.

My secret weapons along the way will be mini-goals and targets, exercise, and keeping track of my weekly highs and lows here on the website.
