JAI SHRI MATAJI!

                   Recently Dharmavision has seen:

STAR TREK 2009

Trekkies will love this, personally I found it interesting but nothing to write home about

7/10

(MAMMA MIA)

A young woman who wants to discover the identity of her father discovers her mother's diaries which reveal 3 possible candidates! The basic concept is not dharmic but the film is a lot of fun, strictly for the over 40s

8/10

(TERMINATOR 4)

Great sci fi, intersting story, lots of action, let down by a silly ending

7/10

ALVIN SUPERSTAR

Singing chipmunks become an overnight success! Entertaining family film

8/10

DIALOGUE AVEC MON JARDINIER

Successful Parisian painter returns to his childhood home and hires a gardener who turns out to be an old school friend. The gardener reveals himself to be a veritable fountain of simple wisdom. Very moving story of art , nature and  friendship 9/10

 Finbar

AUGUST RUSH, is a movie I give the full 8 stars because it fulfills all sahaj requirements.
Gita

This is the story of a boy who runs away from an orphanage to search for his parents, he has an extraordinary gift for music inherited from his musician parents, meanwhile his Mother finally discovers that her child did not die at birth, as she had been told, and starts to look for him 9/10

LA BELLE VERTE 10/10

French film directed by Corinne Serreau - telepaths from an idyllic but  simple culture travel back in time to see how we lived in our present day. ingenious film with hilariouss cenes, very sahaja in many aspects (They can only send messages when they are footsoaking!) haven't yet found it in English but can be viewed in French on http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7170118742684265402

THE VISITOR 10/10

A deeply moving drama built around longtime character actor Richard Jenkins, The Visitor is a simmering drama about a college professor and recent widower, Walter Vale (Jenkins), who discovers a pair of illegal aliens who were the victims of a real-estate scam living in his New York apartment. This is the sort of movie Sahaja Yogis will make one day.

ALAN USA

                                 (Gone Baby Gone) (2007)   8/10

Two Boston area detectives investigate a little girl's kidnapping, which ultimately turns into a crisis both professionally and personally. Based on the Dennis Lehane novel. Directed by Ben Affleck. Strong language will make it inappropriate for some, but it's a powerful, thrilling movie which poses difficult moral questions.

ALAN USA

                         (GRAN TORINO) 10/10

Walt Kowalski (Clint Eastwood) has just lost his wife and his children want him to move out of the old neighborhood and move into a senior citizens' home. Walt doesn't want to move even though more Asian people live in his Detroit neighborhood than Americans. Walt has a problem with Asians ever since he fought them in the Korean War. This prejudice explodes when Thao, the teenage son of the Hmong family next door, tries to steal his mint condition 1972 Grand Torino car. I didn't think I'd like this movie, but it's surprisingly good. Again, strong language so not for all yogis. Five stars

(REIGN OVER ME) 8/10

Adam Sandler stars as a man driven mad by his family's death in 9/11, by chance an old college friend sees him in the street and attempts to help him. Very thoughtful with some excellent acting

DEAR FRANKIE 9/10

Delightful Scottish film about a young deaf boy who believes his father is in the navy and keeps receiving letters from him, but actually it's his Mother who writes them.

(HOLLOWMAN) 2/10

Horrible film based on the Invisible man story, when a scientist becomes invisible he can start fulfilling his fantasies

THE DARK IS RISING 8/10

Based on the book by Susan Cooper, amusing fantasy story about an American family who transfer to an Old English Village only to find that the youngest boy is the chosen one who can defeat the dark powers

(TEN THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU)  8/10

Apparently just another American teen college movie and definitely not for kids, but it's worth a closer look for witty dialogue heavily influenced by Shakespeare's 'Taming of the Shrew'

(DOOMSDAY) 7/10

Probably the best of the Resident evil/I am legend/28 days lethal virus genre, this time it's Scotland which is walled off as the plague spreads - Lots of blood and moderately violent but an interesting story, not for the faint hearted

TINKERBELL 7/10

The story of the birth of Peter Pan's little friend - Nice enough story but they should have developed it a little more, maybe leading up to the first meeting with Peter

(DARK NIGHT) 5/10

Disappointing sequel to the excellent 'Batman begins', great acting and lots of fighting but some rather improbable twists and one was left with a pervading sense of vague depression by the end of the film

MILLIONS 9/10

A young boy unexpectedly finds a large sum of money and decideds to help the poor.

Delightful tale set in the UK just before the change to Euro (!)

FRED CLAUS 7/10

Santa's cynical elder brother comes to town, very stereotypical Christmas story with all the usual elves and reindeer and not many new ideas, nice cameo role from Kevin Spacey, though

THE ISLAND OF NIM 8/10

Jodie Foster has chosen a pleasant theme, a writer of Indiana Jones type adventures is  asked to go and save an eleven year old girl abandoned on a Pacific Island - The trouble is the writer is agraphobic and hasn't been out of her appartment in 3 months!

PRINCE CASPIAN 7/10

If you've read the book you're going to be a bit depressed; pointless story changes and a really silly romantic scene between Caspian and Susan. If you don't know C.S, Lewis you might find it rather long

INDIANA JONES 4   8/10

Had feared a delusion but found it a good, entertaining family film

IRON MAN 7/10

Pleasant adaptation of marvel comics super hero

THE HULK 7/10

Better than expected, good fun

THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES 8/10

Great for kids over 10 - Fantasy film where teenagers discover another world populated by gnomes, goblins and a particularly nasty troll

NEXT 9/10

Excellent Sci/fi thriller, yet another story from Philip K. Dick (Bladerunner) Nicholas Cage makes a suprisingly good job of directing and starring in this story of a man who can see into the future...but only by two minutes
