vergil bio

Vergil is a fictional character who is the twin brother of Dante and one of the two sons of the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda. His real name is Vergil, but was later changed to Nelo Angelo, which is the product of a transliteration error of "Nero Angelo" meaning " Black Angel" in Italian. Nelo Angelo is a boss featured in the video game Devil May Cry. Vergil appears in the prequel, Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening. Vergil is, like Dante, a hybrid. His lineage is divided between being half Devil and half human. This gives him abilities far beyond those of mortal men. Unlike his brother, he is more serious about his training, and is the better swordsman. He is also the opposite of Dante, with his calm and level-headed demeanor.

In Devil May Cry, Nelo Angelo wields a huge sword, a zanbatô, almost twice the size of the one his brother uses. He also commands his former magical aura in the form of blue energy, possibly lightning. As Nelo Angelo, Vergil can adapt this power to take many forms, such as energy blasts, or concentrate it into spear-like projectile attacks, or various other abilities. The energy itself may also be a part of his armor, which allows him to teleport almost instantly from one location to another, albeit within the span of short distances.

In Devil May Cry 3, he wields a keepsake tachi/katana sword named Yamato, given to him by Sparda. It is the same sword that the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda wields in Devil May Cry. Vergil does not use any handguns or any other kind of firearms. It is said he is reluctant to use them because he does not believe them to be weapons of a true warrior.

In the new Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition (Japan release: 2/23/2006, U.S. release: 1/23/2006), Vergil is a playable character and has been shown to be able to create energy sword projectiles that attack and fly towards the nearest enemy. Vergil also has a short range dash, similar to Dante's "Air Trick" which is a short range teleport. Vergil has a Devil Trigger, which is something his brother also possesses. This Demonic power can be triggered by unleashing the otherwise dormant Devilish force within him, and ultimately allows him to unleash stronger attacks upon his opponent. He also wields the Beowulf gauntlets (upon slaying and sealing the devil, Beowulf) and the Force Edge, the symbol of Sparda, a powerful yet somewhat diminutive weapon. He obtains it during their last battle. It is slightly shorter than Dante's Rebellion.
