It is with pleasure and a sense of pride that I invite everyone to read the reviews I've written for some wonderfully talented writers. I always consider it an honor to be asked to provide a review and really appreciate the faith and trust these authors and my readers place in me to provide an accurate and fair appraisal. I prepare these reviews for an on-line magazine The Cheers Magazine and hope to have them as part of a regular column in a newspaper soon.. You can find these reviews in deVoll's Reviews by clicking onto that page here on this website. I add new reviews every week , so drop by Caleb's Branch often, and check up on all that's going on. Please, go to any of the dot come bookstores and read an excerpt from these great books! And BUY !
This site is a work in progress so please overlook the construction mess!
Let me take just a moment to make a couple of statements about my cover. The inspiration for the cover came from the paragraphs on page 90 of Chapter 3. Although the story of Caleb's Branch is basically fiction, this particular chapter is essentially the gosple truth, and the events and emotions examined in this chapter are very real and very much still a current thread in my consciousness. It was this very chapter and this very scene that settled it in my mind to write this book. When I made my suggestions to the publisher for the type of cover I wanted , I really had no idea just what I would receive. A talented artist I know only as Yael was the cover designer for my book, and I think he did an absolutely brilliant job. The child on the cover even resembles my Caleb a little at that age, and Caleb even has a shirt exactly that color of yellow. As I looked at this cover the first night after I received it, I sat in front of my computer and actually wept into that canary yeallow shirt because the emotions of that particular day came flooding back so intensively. Now, as you read, don't skip ahead in the book to page 90, that will spoil things for you, but by all means, linger over those pages, or go back to them, and hopefully you will agree when I say, "Yael captured the moment perfectly."
I have to take a moment and thank Jim Elder for taking so much of his own time and actually building this site for me. I am a total computer idiot and I could never have done this without Jim's generous help and support. Thanks, Jim!
Also a very special thank you to Don Montgomery for putting my cover on this homepage for me, because even though Jennette Cooper gave me detailed instructions for which I am very appreciative, I still was not able to manage it by myself. Please look up Jim, Don and Jennette on Amazon or Barnes&Noble and read an excerpt from their terrific books. Once I learn how, I'll put a link up to their sites.
