Hi all !!!

Purchased these chickens two weeks ago and now i'm obsessed. So much so, I thought i'd share the trials and tribulations on-line. Never had a web page before, so any 'experts', will have to suffer in silence. 

The girls are all at point of lay and Hybrids, but to date, Egg less...!!!! So any time now.. 

TIKKA is a 'White Star' with a bad ass attitude.

DRUM-STICK is a 'Black Rock' who is the messiest eater in the universe.

NUGGET is a 'Speckled Maran' a very timid French girl, (My Fave !)

This is the finnished article. Couldn't realy justify spending £300.00 so I made use of some timber in the garage.

Its double skinned so the chucks are nice and warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Its raised via hidden legs 3" from the floor. The run is slabbed with a nice thick layer of straw and chippings, changed every three days.

I put a propriety mite and pest powder down once every two weeks, just in case. 

Here's the coop being constructed. The nest box has been modified since to allow more privacy. Vent holes have been drilled in as well as a melamine floor to allow easier cleaning.

The pop hole was fun, but I got there in the end...!!! 

My poor garage.!  It seemed every tool I ever owned got used. Just had the roosting slats to fix, and of course the chickens to get.!

Here's Tikka and DrumStick doing their best to scatter their food on the floor. The plastic feeder was next to useless, as they could turn it over. So while i'm waiting for the raised feeders, an old casserole dish does the job.

Here's Nugget in the background, being her usual quiet self. By the reddness of their crowns and bits, we're hoping that some eggs are on the way ! 

Found a pine box for sale at the local hardware store, for £12.00. Thought it would make a nice seperate nesting box, instead of the all in one set up. Thats Lara (the mutt) having a quick sniff. Thats as close as she gets.. 

Hopefully, this will be the place of a million eggs...... 

Well a few a week would be nice !

Here's my chucks in one of their feeding frenzy's. Just a handfull of corn in the late afternoon as a treat. Glad I got my fingers out of the way...

GOOD OLD TIKKA HAS GONE AND DONE IT. WHAT BETTER EXCUSE THAN TO 'CRACK' OPEN A BOTTLE OF WINE ?

HOWEVER, WHEN WE 'CRACKED OPEN THE EGG, THERE WAS A LITTLE SUPRISE !!????  

A DOUBLE YOLKER !! 

VERY TASTY AS WELL !!
