Thetford Bulldogs u11’s V Dereham Wanderers Reds U11’s.

On this misty morning the Reds were keen for a win. From the start the Reds had a spring in their step and put pressure on the Thetford goal for the first few minutes. Luke F cleared the ball to Zach resulting in a shot on goal by DJ saved by the Thetford goalie. Thetford responded but were thwarted by a well timed tackle from Zach just inside the Reds goal area. This was followed by a diving save by Myles. Good defensive play by Callum and Jack, linking up with JR and Louis working well on the left with John, Matti and Matthew. Half time score was 0-0 with the Reds unfortunate not to convert their chances.

In the early part of the second half Thetford took the game to the Reds and scored after 14 minutes with a lobbed shot high over the head of the Reds goalie Myles. Thereafter the Reds had several corners and shots on goal by Matti, Zach, John, JR, DJ and a volleyed shot by Luke F which narrowly missed the left goal post. Luke G defended well and Dylan was persistent with Zach on the left feeding the ball into the Thetford half.

Despite the final score line being in Thetford’s favour, the Red’s determination and effort easily deserved a draw if not more.
