As we get older, the kit stash seems to get larger and larger. Some modellers get fed up and sell their collections from time to time, and start all over again. But sometimes, you have a kit which you are determined will be built and hang onto it or have an idea for a model project which just won't leave your head.
Where do I start? ... There's always another project just around the corner, or so it seems. Main project at the moment is a 1:16 scale traction engine based on the old Bandai kit of 'Pendle Princess'. I bought two boxes full of bits which turned out to be 4 complete although built and rather mistreated traction engines. I managed to salvage enough pieces to build a complete rolling chassis but unfortunately, most of the working pieces of the engine are either broken or mising. The model will eventually be built as a restoration diorama complete with salvage sheets, rust and weathering.
Other projects either started or waiting are mainly 1:16 scale, they include a drilling rig based on the Academy Ford Model A, an ambulance and a railed fire truck based on the Ford Model T, and of course the lunacy with the Airfix Anti-Pesto van.
My special interest within the hobby is German and to a lesser degree, Soviet armour of WWII in 1:35 scale. I almost always incorporate these vehicles, once completed into diorama settings together with the appropriate figures, thus creating a variety of scearios which tell a story.
I have just completed my first diorama of the new year. It's entitled 'Autumn's Shroud' and depicts a disabled Panther munitions carrier buried nose first into a riverbed surrounded by a carpet of Autumn leaves.
