CAELLIOTTS MAGIC ARABIANS

American and British Bred Arabian horses

Caelliotts Magic: The Foundation

Supreme British National Champion, *Rushan

Caelliotts Magic Arabians is dedicated to creating youngsters for breeders who want  outstanding, reliable, OUTCROSS bloodlines with which they then can breed to ANY Arabian with  predictable results on a regular basis;   creating youngsters for those who want  wonderful companion horses who can go out and win in both halter and performance; creating youngsters for those who simply love and want a beautiful Arabian horse.

Background

Caelliotts Magic Arabians-named for the late Chester Arthur Elliott pioneer aviator, combat pilot in WWI's LaFayette Flying Corps/ US Army Air Corps, the head of the West Coast's ESSO EXPORT to the mid-60's, is  the person most responsible for the very existence of this site (without him no human, no horses, no site!)-is a small, private breeding operation created in 1980 and  based exclusively on the finest bloodlines available both in the United States and Great Britain today and includes  horses tracing to the  Crabbet Arabian Stud,  the Maxwell's Lodge Farm Stud, Om El Arab INTL, Barbara Campbell's Underriver Stud,  Alun and Mary Prothero's Yeoman's Well Stud, Mr. & Mrs. Dick Archer's Worth Arabian Stud and Mr. & Mrs. John Coward's CWM Farm, Wales.

The predominate dam line traces through Wayne Newton's WN Sharazada, a Seglawi al Abd via the Spanish desert import, Zulima.  The balance of the  mares trace to well known Seglawi family progenitors  Bint Helwa (Seglawi Jedran) and Milordka PASB (Seglawi) while the stallion *Rushan AHSB's dam line traces to arguably the greatest Kuhailan mare of all time, Rodania .  All the above breeders are renowned for the integrity and continuity of their breeding programs, with horses of unquestionably outstanding pedigree and of the winningest international strains.

In the United Kingdom, Lady Wentworth and various breeders kept their finest horses, only selling those whose better replacements remained at home, thereby insuring that the most beautiful descendants of the world's most famous Arabians, the foundation lines of British breeding,  were still in Britain.  The stallion to make the break from British confines after a 30+ year hiatus of British blood being internationally appreciated, was *Carmargue who brought to the world a new sire line to Skowronek, that of Naziri.   In 1987 we helped facilitate his lease to the US,  after he claimed the titles of 1985 World Champion, Spanish National Champion and European International Champion.

*Carmargue (White Lightning x Velvet Shadow by Bey Shadow),  bred by Glyn Greenwood and owned by Alun Prothero,  was extraordinary. His great great grandsire was Naziri, Skowronek's most beautiful son,  according to all those who saw him and most importantly to Lady Wentworth who noted that Naziri was 'the most beautiful Arabian alive'.  The Skowronek sire line is arguably the most successful if not the most beautiful in hand sire line ever known.   The Skowroneks also have  the reputation for a particularly agreeable sweetness of character as well as good structure ,  are fun riding horses  and are loving loyal companions.  Thus *Carmargue shattered all the European show records, and was the first foreign bred stallion in decades to win the Spanish National Championship title and to that time placed higher than any other stallion in the history of the  Paris World Championships!

*Carmargue winning the Nations Cup'Cam' and Gari

In 1997 on a visit to the British Nationals,  Gari saw the incredibly beautiful and charismatic *Rushan overwhelmingly win the Supreme British National Championship title against over 2100 horses, national and international winners-the youngest purebred Arabian in history to ever achieve the title!  This youngster's pedigree was literally a Who's Who of great British breeding.  *Rushan's sire, El Saleem was double El Shaklan-few know that El Shaklan's very first foals were born in the UK and more still through his winningest son, World Champion, Norwegian National Champion, Mid-East Champion, British National Champion, etc.,   the powerful Maleik El Kheil,  El Saleem's sire.  El Saleem was out of the stunning, one time British National Champion Filly, Crysilla by *El Shaklan, said to be the stallion's most beautiful chestnut daughter.   El Saleem, was a Reserve British National Champion in  halter and British National Champion in performance and Rushan's dam, Rullante was the British National Foal Champion and, until *Rushan,  famous as the dam of National and International winner, Rusleem ! Moreover *Rushan carries multiples of the greatest Skowronek blood, including that of Naziri!  Thus it was a tremendous thrill to acquire *Rushan for Caelliotts Magic and American Arabian breeders.

The goal of Caelliott's Magic is to provide outstanding, proven , NEW sources of the world's most superior bloodlines, as  outcrosses to America's most popular Arabians. To that end except in rare instances, the Caelliotts Magic herd carry no lines to Bey Shah, Bask, Padron, nor Ali Jamaal, thereby hopefully ensuring the maximum potential outcross blend of beauty, conformation and temperament, no matter to whom our stallions or mares are bred.

GARI DILL-MARLOW

Lady Thatcher, Duke of Rutland, Duchess of Rutland and Gari Dill-Marlow

Mrs. Gari Dill-Marlow,  born a Conneticut  Yankee  came out to California when she was 6 months old.  Raised in Santa Monica and Malibu, she attended UCLA receiving her BA in Political Science with minors in history and psychology.  While anchoring a weekly world news in review tv show, WORLD IN PERSPECTIVE on a local PBS station and doing a daily commodities report on KWHY TV in LA, CLAYTON COMMODITIES, she did post graduate study in Chemistry, Physics, Zoology and Anatomy planning to go to medical school but instead married a US Army officer and moved to Sacramento where she acquired her first Arabian three years later.

The rest is history as the Arabian gelding she fortunately acquired was the most beautiful, intelligent, loving horse she ever knew....Drifters Talal,  affectionately known as Deputy, changed Gari's life forever.  New adventures waited around every corner and the love for the great gelding would take her all over the horse breeding world.  After several years of study guided by Rhoda Coleal-Coleal Arabian Horse Farm, Jackie and Terry Polk-Los Acres,  Jeanne and Charles Craver-Craver Farms,  and Ella Coffee-Coffee's Arabians and several others,  Gari became absolutely fascinated with the horses emanating out of the UK and the Crabbet Arabian Stud's remarkable impact on Arabhorsedom. Of all the world's greatest studs, Crabbet's contribution was universal to every major world breeding program, vastly outstripping all others in influence.  With extremely rare exception (the Davenport Arabians-and Homer Davenport was indeed guided by Lady Anne Blunt), not one horse in the world would look as it does today but for Crabbet Park.

Gari and Carmargue in Paris, '85

Going to the UK in the early '80's, Gari was first mentored by Cecil and Grace Covey,  Rosemary Archer, the Duchess of Rutland and Mrs. I.M. Bowring-McVean (whose mare Silver Sheen won the British National Champion Mare title an unprecedented 6 times), the well-studied daughter of Mrs. E.M. Murray who was regarded worldwide as one of the UK's greatest breeders second only to Lady Wentworth and Lady Yule.  Since then Gari has returned to the UK annually to visit and absorb the British breeding programs and is convinced that the British bred Arabian's international hiatus since the late 60's is at an end.  Recently the British Bred stallion, the Hickford's FS Bengali won the US Nationals, knocking the socks off of American breeders who had nearly forgotten the  importance of  British creativity, especially in terms of horsebreeding. Such UK studs as the Cullinghurst Stud,  Susan George's Georgian Arabians, Jane Kadri's Al Waha,  and several others are making  huge contributions to the international Arabian  horse breeding community and Gari fully expects that their names will join the legends of  international Arabian breeding in the near future, if not there already.

Besides breeding an Arabian or two each year,  Gari writes for Arabian horse magazines worldwide as well as occasional political/military articles for various publications, and is currently writing a guide to Arabian horse strains.

Oh...and who was Chester Arthur Elliott to Mrs. Dill-Marlow?  Her maternal grandfather and the greatest man on earth!
