July 27th, 2008 The filming of Don Quixote has been a saga every bit as epic as the 15th-century literary classic on which it is based. But now, seven years after the film was aborted on one of the most disaster-prone shoots in cinema history, Terry Gilliam's dream of making a big screen version has been revived. Gilliam, the former Monty Python star and director of Brazil, Twelve Monkeys and The Fisher King, is to reunite with Johnny Depp for a second attempt to make The Man Who Killed Don Quixote. The development is the latest twist in what is one of the most remarkable stories in cinema history. The original shoot, which suffered a series of setbacks, was captured on film by documentary makers and Lost In La Mancha became a hit in its own right. One source close to the revived project, who asked not to be named, said: "They are having another crack at it after putting a deal together. Johnny is a bigger star now than he was then, thanks to the Pirates of the Caribbean, and there is every confidence they can pull it off." The first attempt to make the film in 2001 ended in disaster after just five days of shooting, at a location near Madrid. On the first day of the £16 million shoot, actor Jean Rochefort, 70, suffered a double hernia. The next day the set was washed away by a flash flood. When Depp, who plays a 21st century marketing executive transported back in time, declared he could not wait for Rochefort to recover because of other commitments, the film's financiers pulled the plug. The insurers reportedly paid out $15 million (£7.5 million) and took control of the script. Ownership of the script has now returned to Gilliam. Shortly after the collapse of the project, Gilliam said he had come to sympathise with Quixote, who in one episode in Cervantes's novel "tilts at", or attacks, windmills that he mistakes for giants, an image that has come to stand for the pursuit of impossible dreams.

Tim Byrd, The Byrdman broke the exclusive news to South Florida that the internationally acclaimed actor JOHNNY DEPP, together with his former band The Kids, will headline 2 South Florida concerts next weekend. The Kids will join the Romantics and other local South Florida Bands from the 80s for The 2nd annual Sheila Witkin Memorial Reunion Concert August 29th & 30th at Club Cinema in Pompano Beach. 5 arrested for shooting near Chicago 'Public Enemies' set:
CHICAGO - Life imitated art on a Chicago movie set when a police officer arrested suspected gang members involved in a drive-by shooting near the filming of Johnny Depp's mobster flick "Public Enemies." Friday morning's shooting occurred about a block away from the set on the city's South Side. It happened about half an hour before Depp arrived on the set. No one was injured.
A police detective who blocked traffic while film crews worked nearby told WGN-TV that he arrested five juveniles and seized a handgun from their vehicle. One was later charged with unlawful use of a weapon. "Public Enemies" stars Depp as infamous bank robber John Dillinger and co-stars Christian Bale as FBI agent Melvin Purvis.
Johnny nominated for Teen Choice Awards!
The good news is... Johnny's been nominated again this year for a Teen Choice Award! The bad news is, he's only been nominated for one award: Best Villain (Just like for the MTV awards!) for Sweeney Todd. So, he wasn't nominated as Best Actor for Action/Adventure or Comedy (AWE) or for Drama or Horror (Sweeney Todd). But at least there is the one nom! The awards will be held on August 4 on Fox.

12-year-old asked for hat during ‘Public Enemies’ filming and the star delivered

The next time Jack Taylor takes his hat off to Johnny Depp, it actually will be Depp’s hat.
The 12-year-old southside resident received a package in the mail Thursday from Depp’s production company, Infinitum Nihil, containing a variety of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” promotional gifts along with a vintage fedora Depp told Taylor he could have when the “Public Enemies” star was in town in April for filming.
“All I really said was ‘Can I have your hat?’,” Taylor, who will start seventh grade at Grace Lutheran Church this fall, said. “And he said ‘When I’m done with it, it’s yours.’ He was actually pretty cool.”
It took a little more work than that to get Taylor’s promise fulfilled, though. His parents, Kris and Matt Brand, tracked down Depp’s agent, who turned out to be his sister, and told her about what happened. Depp’s agent pulled enough merchandise to ensure Taylor and his siblings, Anthony Taylor, 13, Alexis Taylor, 6, Emily Brand, 3, and Abigail Brand, 1, each got a little something from what ranks as one of their favorite Depp movies along with “Pirates of the Caribbean.”
“It’s not exactly the easiest thing to make all five kids happy, but they did a good job. It’s finally nice to see a celebrity being nice and following through on his promises,” Kris Brand said. “He promised Jack his hat and he followed through. It’s really cool.”
Jack’s new hat, a well-worn fedora that’s vintage in appearance, wasn’t the only personal item enclosed with the package. Depp also wrote Jack a short, personal note telling him to enjoy the hat and the cool “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” stuff and signed it himself.
“It was pretty awesome when it came,” he said. “I didn’t think it actually would come.”
To show his appreciation, Jack penned a letter of his own to send to Depp, though the first draft has been refined a few times with the help of his parents. And his new prized possession will definitely get shown during the summer and at school.
“Nobody believed me at first when I told them about meeting him,” Jack said. “It’s pretty awesome.”
Isn't that just the sweetest thing ever!

Johnny is going to present at the MTV Movie Awards 2008!
Breaking News...
The Johnny Depp Birthday Project 2008!
On June 9 it is Johnny's birthday as we know.
This year we want to do something specialfrom his fans to him, the idea is this:
I have a huge book and everyone can join, you can make a collage for Johnny no bigger then 600 x 400 or you can send a picture of yourself with a special birthday wish for Johnny or you can write a note for him and scan it.
Those are just examples but you get the idea.
I will print everything out on good strong paper and put it in the Johnny Depp Birthday book.
It is the 20th of April 2008 now and I will send the book to Johnny to one of his adresses his Agent Tracey Jacobs or to his production company Infinitum Nihil two or three weeks before his birthday.
Like the idea? Come and join you can send everything to me my e-mail adress or to Nicci's (johnnyslittledevil) e-mail adress or send a PM if you like.
Here is the list of what to do:
- Send in your special gift for Johnny from 20th April 2008 to 26th of May.

Johnny Nominated for a MTV Movie Awards!
The nominations for the MTV movie awards have been announced. Johnny has 2 nominations!! Not Best Actor but best comedic performance (Captain Jack) and best villain (Sweeney). AWE and ST had pretty sparse nom's this year, oh well. You can apparently vote at the MTV site:

Johnny to voice SpongeBob SquarePants Character?
AR: I also direct for various other studios, and for Nickelodeon, I worked on a series called Avatar, and I also do Spongebob Squarepants, and because Spongebob is such an enormous hit, many actors actually approach us, wanting to do it because... well, a lot of actors, the work that they do on-camera, in films, their children can't watch. Maybe they're R-rated movies, or just movies that aren't appropriate for small children... But they'll call us up and say, "My kid is a huge fan of Spongebob Squarepants."
David Bowie called and asked if he could be part of Spongebob Squarepants, Gene Simmons from KISS, and his significant other, Shannon Tweed, they came in and did some guest roles. Dennis Quaid has been asking to come in and read, and I'm a huge fan of his... I'm actually scheduled to record Johnny Depp in a couple of weeks. Those are all surprises, and those are all people who came to us.
Tracey Jacobs Heads to Endeavor:
Word over the Defamer transom this morning suggests yet another high-profile agency move, with UTA partner Tracey Jacobs reportedly packing her bags (and clients including Johnny Depp) for the greener pastures of Endeavor. Jacobs' departure would follow that of her colleagues Nick Stevens, Sharon Sheinwold and Lisa Hallerman earlier this month, further driving rumors of a UTA merger or sell-off as the talent division melts down.
Jacobs joined UTA in 1998, bringing along Depp, Joan Cusack, Vincent D'Onofrio and filmmakers Lasse Hallstrom and Mark Pellington from her previous perch at ICM. Those names will join her at Endeavor, which bulked up considerably this month with Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller (the latter leading Stevens' "comedy wheel" exodus) signing on across Wilshire Boulevard. No comment yet from Jacobs or leadership at either agency, though we presume UTA boss Jim Berkus should have an anonymous Craigslist post offering surplus office furniture online by the end of the day. Are Johnny and Vanessa getting married?
A source in the family says that Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis might get married soon on June 14th this year in Georgie,Florida.
Added fuel to the previously existent wedding talk, Johnny Depp is said to have been planning to wed Vanessa Paradis on June 14 later this year. The pair, who have been together for ten years and already had two children together, have always insisted they don't feel the need to make their relationship official, but French singer Vanessa is now keen to walk down the aisle.
Vanessa recently told Johnny she'd like to get married, a source close to the Paradis-Depp family has stated. And Johnny, being the amazing man he is, is willing to make it happen. "Johnny loves Vanessa very much, and he said if that's what would make her happy, then he'd marry her," the source added.
The wedding reportedly will likely take place in Georgia's Tybee Island since "They wanted to make it convenient for Johnny's family in Florida." Depp and Vanessa's children, Lily-Rose and Jack meanwhile "are really excited about it. Actually the whole family is excited," the source went on saying.
Invitations, still according to the same source, will be sent out in a few weeks.
Depp who previously was married to makeup artist Lori Anne Allison in the 80s, has previously said of his relationship with Vanessa, "For all intents and purposes, we are married," adding that, "if [Vanessa] ever said, 'Hey, let's get hitched,' I would do it in a second."
No official verification nor denial issued by the couple and their camps just yet.
