Top 2 teams battle out a draw
Deportivo welcomed 2nd place willows community to a blustery havelock sch this week for a top of the table clash and with depo losing last week to newtons depo was desperate not to lose for the second week, Depo made 2 changes to the team that lost last week with snowy edwards making way in goal for the hotshot striker dave maggs and steve lawn came in for john , Depo started the better team for a change and tried to use the wind to there advantage and took a deserved lead after 15 minutes when the ginga goal machine nat gibbons scored after some neat footwork in the willows goalmouth depo piled on the pressure for the first 30 minutes but then willows started to get there foot on the ball and started to pin the depo team back and forced the makeshift goalie in the depo goal to make a couple of smart saves the scored stayed 1-0 till half time .
The second half started with depo again trying to force the issue and doubled there lead when sweet shot was dispatched by the other ginga ninja in the shape of danny mcCann , This seemed to really wake the willows team up and replied instantly when the tricky emo danced and jinked past 3 depo players and fired at the goal to see the ball deflect of the depo keeper to make it 2-1 ,At this point willows were flying and grabbed another with the help of the wind as a willows defender hoofed the ball aimlessly up the feild to see the ball take a wicked bounce and sail of the stranded depo keeper to tie the game at 2-2 , still willows was on top and a few minutes later took the lead 3-2 abiet with the help of the dopey depo full back carl winchester who went to swing his leg at the ball only to see his fore arm knock the ball in for a og. The depo management team then switched to plan B with maggs returning to his postion as striker and snowy edwards coming on for reece white to take his familar role this season between the sticks . not long after the change depo pulled level when another cross for the impressive anthony jagger whipped the ball in to see it handled by bozzy the willows fullback , danny mcCann the stepped to take the resulting penalty to tie the game once more . the what could of been the turning point in the game a frustarted emo got his marching orders for shouting "fuckoff lino" whick was probably harsh .. this didnt seem to upset the willows gameplan tho when some more sloppy defending by depo (winnie)allows the willows striker time and space on the edge of the area to dispatch a lovely shot past the depo keeper into the top corner , willows must of thought they had done enogh as the depo players looked deflated , But to depo's credit they kept going and with 4 minutes left a tasty cross by yet another ginger in the depo team (jack winchester) was prodded in by dave maggs to tie the game up at 4-4 the ref blew the final whistle to both teams relief as neither teams wanted or deserved to lose the game was reffed ok by wayne capes , willows are a good team and deserve to be challenging at the top of the league . Man of the match for depo was shared by nick woods who kept the divisions top scorer emo in check for the most part of the game and also anthony jagger who crosed ball after ball into the willows box .
