Dentview Fell Ponies
About me
My name is Rebecca Sim, I have been involved with fell ponies for 13 years now. I have an NVQ level 2 qualification in horse care and riding, along with my British Horse Society riding and road safety certificate. I have worked with a wide range of breeds of horses and ponies; but fell ponies are my favourite breed by far. I learnt to ride on fell ponies, so it was a natural choice for me to focus on this breed.
About the stud
Dentview Fell ponies is a small stud, only breeding one or two foals a year. The aim of the stud is to breed quality fell ponies, from traditional bloodlines with superb working temperaments. I am a firm believer of a pony being able to do a job, and not just 'look good.' The fell pony used to be 'the jack of all trades' and I feel this is an important quality to preserve. The stud is based in Gosforth, North West Cumbria. The ponies are lucky to have fabulous views such as the Wasdale Valley, home of Britain's favourite view.
About the name 'Dentview'
The prefix Dentview was chosen because it is the name of the fell I lived in view of for 16 years. A local riding centre run their partbred fell ponies used for trekking out on the fell, and I have ridden over Dent and Cold fell/Kinniside common many times; so felt it a very fitting prefix for my ponies.
