The Ilocos Region

Situated on the northwestern coast of Luzon, the Ilocos region covers an
area of 12,840.19 square kilometers. Also known as Region 1 , it
consists of the provinces Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and
Pangasinan. This narrow strip of land is bounded on the west by China
Sea, on the east by the Cagayan Valley and the Cordellera Administraive
Region, on the south is Central luzon, and on the north is the Bangui
Bay. The region cradles more than 700 kilometers of South China Sea
coastline on the western side. On the east portion of the Cordelera
Mountain Ranges.
In the year 2000, the total population was 4,400,478 distibuted as
follws: Ilocos Norte- 541,241 ; Ilocos sur- 594,206 ; La
Union- 657945 ; Pangasinan- 2,434,086 ; ''''''' San
Carlos City- 154,246 Dagupan City- 130,328
Laoag- 94,466 San Fernando City- 102,082.
Region
1 experiences a relatively dry season from November to April and an
abundant rainfall during the wet season from May to October. The
temperature occurs cooler during the months of December up to February.
The hottest months are April and May.
The region boast of
diverse attractions that are evident in its natural resources,
landscapes, sports and adventure venues, it's people's culture and
heritage, century-old structures, industrial and agricultural products,
and even cuisine.
