Denise in the World

Denise Reich: Freelance Writer

Denise was born in Italy and grew up in New York and Maine. She moved over fourteen times and went to ten different schools before she turned 16, so she's not really sure where she is from. As an adult she has lived, worked and attended school in France and South Africa and has traveled to 27 countries on five continents.

Denise began writing when she was five and had her first story published at the age of six. Her work has appeared in various publications in the USA, Bermuda, South Africa, Russia and elsewhere and has tackled issues ranging from the Chernobyl disaster to Beanie Babies.

Outside of writing, Denise has worked in a wide variety of weird and wonderful jobs, ranging from teaching drama to first graders in Cape Town to spinning Central Maine's best hard rock and heavy metal as a disc jockey. She has also been a dancer and performer for most of her life, and has appeared in various stage, film, television and Internet projects. Denise is addicted to books, roller coasters, museums and travel and would spend all her time going on roadtrips to see The Cure play if it were at all feasible. She also is an amateur flying trapeze artist. Yes, really.
