Background

With years of college and career moves in the past, Denise Amodeo Miller renewed her childhood love of writing in Fall 2006.

She joined a local writers group about that time, and soon she became an organizer of that terrific and talented assembly.

Within a very short time after, her poem "The Richness of Beef"  won the Second Place award in Sol Magazines Winter 2007 Poetry Contest: http://pages.prodigy.net/sol.magazine/sol07winter.htm

In June 2008, "Vittles and Tea" won First Place in the 2008 Gulf Coast Poets Poetry Competition. http://gulfcoastpoets.info/  found in the June 2008 Poetry Chronicles

The Write Now Project was a month and a half long daily poetry undertaking that Denise was invited to participate in September 2008.  At the end of the duration, several of her poems were placed in competition against the other particapants.  Her poem "Blood Boost Blood" was pronounced a First Place winner of the Volunteers Poem catagory. http://sol-magazine-projects.org/pww/WriteNow09-2008.pdf

Many of her poems also appear in the Trees of Surprise Anthology, Empty Shoes: An Anthology of Poems on the Hungry and the Homeless and Nickel City Nights, and will soon appear in the 2010 Buffalo Anthology (Check it out at http://www.buffaloanthology.blogspot.com/).

She has performed her poetry at Buffalo's Largest Live Poetry Event, Urban Epiphany, The Infringement Festival and many other area venues.  Her live readings are available to be heard through a link on this site.

While her passions move her to poetry, she has also begun trying her hand at other forms of writing and has been published, also, in part of the best selling Chicken Soup for the Soul series.
