Den Haag WINS first game

The hard work of the past few weeks paid off as Den Haag Knights beat Groningen by 5-3 in the first round of the Dutch Lacrosse League. The Knights went up by an early goal but Groningen came back and the two teams followed each other close during the whole game. Attack, midfield, defense and in particular goalies played a super game but it was the overall team work and commitment that led to this fantastic victory (Den Haag won 33 out of 53 ground balls). What a first step for the new team - next game in the league is after Christmas and Den Haag will work hard to continue its victory streak.

17 Player Roster for First Game

What looked "impossible" only a short while ago will now become reality. Only two months after the first practice Den Haag Knights are now ready to play their first game ever. The roster for Sunday's game consists of 17 players who will play against Groningen in Utrecht on Sunday afternoon.

First Picture of Den Haag Lacrosse

Our very first "team picture" has been taken - check out the pride of Den Haag below

Quite a number of our regular players are missing from this picture, but we will for sure take more and brighter ones in the future.

Monday Night Practices at HDM

Den Haag Lacrosse has arranged with HDM to use their facilities which includes artificial turf field for practices. So, bye to Zuiderpark for now and hello to the great facilities and our new friends at HDM where practice will be held every Monday from 20:30 - 22:15 (make sure you are ready to start practice at 20:30)

Den Haag Knights

Den Haag Lacrosse will from now on go under the name "The Knights"

Background: One of the most famous buildings in Den Haag is De Ridderzaal (Knight's Hall) - as such Knights is the perfect name for a team that will play and fight for this great city that also happens to be the hooftstad of Zuid-Holland, the regeringszetel van Nederland and the judicial capital of the WORLD.

Team colors are green and yellow and anyone having visited Den Haag will have seen these colors around town - the rest of the Netherlands will from now on see these colors on the city's new lacrosse team as they go out and play for glory ;-)

GO KNIGHTS

Den Haag "field trip" to Amsterdam vs. Utrecht

On Monday October 3, Den Haag Lacrosse went to Amsterdam where Amsterdam Lions were taking on Utrecht Devils. Three Den Haag players actually played the game for Amsterdam whereas the others watched and got a better understanding of lacrosse. The game ended with a 8-0 victory to Amsterdam.

The game clearly showed that Den Haag is not too far behind the other teams in the Netherlands and with hard work and dedication moving forward the team from the "City of Peace and Justice" (!) looks to shake up the Dutch lacrosse landscape quite a bit in the future.

Rookie Nights continue

Over the past few weeks we have had many new players join our team - we had thus dedicated the month of September to "rookie nights" where all basics of lacrosse would be covered. Due to popular demand and more people sending emails about their interest in the game our rookie training will continue through the month of October - this means that anyone interested in trying lacrosse can show up for practice and they will be go through a practice where we focus on the fundamentals of lacrosse.

We got equipment for you so all you need to bring are some shoes (e.g. soccer cleats) and shorts/tshirt.

Should you be interested in trying out lacrosse, drop us a mail at info@denhaaglacrosse.nl

First Practice on September 12

On September 12 Den Haag Lacrosse had its first practice session - a great group of enthusiastic and talented guys showed up and after some basic skills training and shooting practice we ended with playing a game. Great start to the new club and if we continue this way it won't be long before Den Haag Lacrosse is ready to take on the rest of the Dutch teams.

Practices will continue every Monday from 18:00-19:30 in Zuiderpark (see details under Schedule)

Watch out Emmen, Groningen, Maastricht and Amsterdam - Den Haag is coming out strong....
