Disciplines, Paths, & Abilites

Disciplines : Clan LaSombra's Discplines through Bloodline are Auspex, Dominate, Obtenebration, Potence, & Protean.


When a Lasombra is Embraced they choose two Disciplines their sire chose as their bloodline inheiritance. These powers are by no means the end all be all of a LaSombra's cunning, and are given as simple guidelines of what one might be able to except from a Shadowmaster.


There are other powers more certainly hidden within the Shadows, those known only to those that possess them. Futhermore, a LaSombra has no only these powers at his command, but the powers that he was infused with when he first became a Vampire. The Embrace of the Shadows only heightens they're power and ability and enhanced they're cunning... Truly, the LaSombra are a race cloaked within the shadows.


Auspex : Auspex encompasses the vast array of expanded sensory powers that some Kindred experience and can develop upon the Embrace. Most Kindred fortunate enough to possess this power find it exceptionally useful not only in night-to-night survival but also in appreciating the beauty of their surroundings.


Dominate : One of the legendary powers of vampires is their ability to control the thoughts and actions of others. This Discipline is partly responsible for this legend. Unlike its sister power, Presence, Dominate affects the conscious and sometimes unconscious mental facilities of a target. To Dominate, you must first establish eye contact with the target. Even so much as a brief meeting of the eyes is enough, to fulfill this requirement, about which players are expected to exercise a degree of honesty. Orders issued with Dominate must be verbal and clearly comprehensible to the target -- or you may issue the commands using Telepathy. Note that Dominate's one major limitation is that it is totally ineffective against Kindred of a lower generation than the user of the Discipline.


Obtenebration : Vampires are creatures of shadows, none more so than practitioners of Obtenebration. This Discipline enables the Lasombra to shape shadows, the very essence of their twilight souls.


Potence : Another distinctly physcial Discipline from which many Kindred benefit is a supernaturally heightened degree of strength known as Potence. Those employing this gift find themselves able to perform incredible feats and inflict brutal amounts of damage. Unfortunately, like so many of the physical Disciplines, Potence easily marks the user as something more than human.


Protean : This Discipline allows a vampire to transform either her entire body or a part of her body into something nonhuman. The vampire can thus grow claws, turn into a bat or even mist.

Paths: The paths chosen by the LaSombra, according to the World of Darkness, are those such as the Path of Cathari, the Path of Power and the Inner Voice, and the Path of Caine... These paths for those who simple are LaSombra, without all of the frills of the World of Darkness are those that simply encourage stealth, the accumulation of knowledge, patience and cunning.

Abilites: A LaSombra vampire retains all the abilites he had while he was alive, or before he was Embraced to the Shadow, and can continue to learn and grow within those powers as well as those granted to him by the Embrace. LaSombra are often extremely strong, but their primary atribute is thier mind, and their natural cunning, thier simple drawback of not being relfected in mirrors and reflective surfaces, including film, is far outweighed by the potence of the BloodGifts.
