Democratic Transhumanists

A Registered Student Organization at the University of Chicago

The first Democratic Transhumanists meeting of the 2007-2008 academic year will take place at 7pm on Monday, October 1st, 2007, in the basement of Crerar Library.

This organization aims to encourage democratic transhumanists to unite and influence public policy, to raise objections to both right-wing and left-wing bioconservatism, and to encourage think tanks, scientific research, and bioethical debate within the organization concerning the proper definition and scope of democratic transhumanism. Democratic Transhumanists will be doubly focused on the advancement of technology, and their implications on ethics, politics, and society.

Get involved, through scientific research (shameless synthetic biology plug), and discussions of the social, legal, economic, and philosophical ramifications of Transhumanism. Network with transhumanists in the area, and discuss the issues with professionals worldwide. Be a part of our conference-organizers, and bring speakers that interest you to Chicago. Submit your essays to transhumanist journals, and become active in what will be the most important issue of the 21st Century.
