Recruitment Information

Dear Potential New Delta Zeta,

My name is Katie Ritter, and I am the recruitment chair for Delta Zeta.  I hope you are enjoying the summer.  I wanted to thank everyone who has contacted myself or another one of my sisters about becoming a Delta Zeta in the fall!  Due to Panhellenic rules, we are no longer allowed to personally answer any of your responses until after recruitment in the fall.  If you are interested in joining Delta Zeta please make sure you sign up for recruitment by clicking the link below

Recruitment for the 2009 school year will take place September 11- 14.  I hope you will also attend the Greek life information session called "Color Me Greek" with a grill out afterwards on Saturday, August 29 .  Another fun event on campus before recruitment is Freshfusion during Welcome Week on Wednesday, September 2

Be on the look out for Delta Zeta when you come to NKU this summer for your orientation, and we'd be happy to answer any questions you may have then.  We'll be in the black shirts with bright pink letters that say "Dream Big" on the front.  If you have any questions about sorority recruitment before your orientation date, or if you come up with something after you leave orientation please contact a Gamma Chi, or a woman on the Panhellenic council.  I absolutely cannot wait to meet you this summer and during recruitment- going through recruitment will be the best decision you'll ever make!

                                                                                                                                                                          Sincerely,
                                                                                                                                                                        Katie Ritter

What is a Gamma Chi?

Every sorority has a few members who have chosen to be Gamma Chi's, or recruitment counselors, for the summer. Being a Gamma Chi is an amazing experience, because these women lead new potential members through the process of joining a sorority.

A Gamma Chi must remain anonymous to which sorority they are in. It is a big sacrafice! We are so proud of our DZ Gamma Chi's and we can not wait to be re-united with them soon.

If you see a woman on the website with her face covered, it is because she is a GX and must remain annonymous. You will see her face covered with a heart, star or other symbol.

Gamma Chi's will be at the summer orientations and welcome week of school to help sign women up for sorority recruitment.

They look forward to seeing you!

From the President's Desk...

Dear Potential New Delta Zeta,

I am so excited to meet you!  Two years ago going through recruitment, I remember being so nervous…until I quickly found a place I call home with my Delta Zeta sisters.  I want to share my experiences so you can start to learn what Delta Zeta is all about here at NKU .  Immediately after joining Dee Zee, my friendship with these women blossomed…going to lunch, seeing movies, just getting involved with each other.  They introduced me to fraternity men from every group through mixers, service socials, and date parties.  My favorite event was our Sweet Home Delta Zeta western date party.

On top of social events, my Dee Zee sisters and I participated in many community service projects.  We held our annual Pink & Green Auction to  support programs for the hearing impaired, as well as the Painted Turtle Camp for children with life threatening illnesses.  My sisters and I were part of local projects for St. Rita’s School the Deaf, Support the Troops, and Adopt a Highway.  You’ve never seen a better looking group of women in  orange vests!

Our Sunday evening chapter meetings are another time we connected – to plan events, share traditions, celebrate successes, and just be a family.  I think this is where everyone has the chance to help lead Dee Zee forward.  Above all we are most  proud of our ability to balance service, social, and academics. I always had fun studying with a group of sisters during our study days in the library or at Starbucks.   Living with my Dee Zee sisters in Callahan  Hall has been an amazing  experience too!  I always had a sister to hangout with or go to with a question about a class or a professor.  My sister, Lauren,  started a new recycling program for all of the sororities to support our national Pink Goes Green campaign.   I had a blast with my sisters painting the ugly cans to make them pretty.  It’s only my second year, but Dee Zee has already taught me so much!

My sisters are always supporting me and pushing me to do better, like when I joined another organization and ran for an office in DZ.  There are opportunities for every woman to get involved, which is why we have won the Leadership Development Award out of over 200 campus organizations for 3 years in a row.  We were also 1 of only 3 Greek organizations to be named one of the top 10 organizations on campus last year!  In 2006, my chapter was named 1 of the top 6 Delta Zeta chapters in the world!!!!!! My Dee Zee sisters and I are looking forward to learning about you at recruitment, hearing your goals, and answering your questions.

We can’t wait to meet you during recruitment, I know you’ll love my sisters as much as I do!

                                                                                                                                                       Love in the Flame,

                                                                                                                                                                                      Leigha Phelps
