Over 135 Years of Brotherhood & Tradition

Delphic Fraternity History Homepage

Welcome to The Delphic Fraternity History Homepage!

The Delphic Fraternity is the oldest northeast regional fraternity still in existence. It was originally founded as the Delphic Society in 1871 in upstate New York. It eventually expanded to eight historic chapters throughout New York and Pennsylvania. By the late 1930s, only one chapter remained officially active: the Zeta chapter at New Paltz, NY. Today there are nine historic chapters with the addition of our first chapter of the 21st century, the Theta chapter at Binghamton, NY.

Delphic of Gamma Sigma Tau Fraternity

In 1987, after about 15 years of dormancy, the Zeta chapter at New Paltz was re-established as Delphic of Gamma Sigma Tau Fraternity, the first multicultural fraternity formed on the east coast. Today, the current undergraduate active chapter at Binghamton University and the alumni chapter at SUNY New Paltz represent the organization.

This site will focus on historical references of The Delphic Fraternity. It will also chronicle future changes and advancements in the organization.
