Pocket Sample Players

This is something similar to those handheld devices from novelty shops that swear at you when you push buttons.
It's based on a pic library for sample playback found on
www.RomanBlack.com!

I used a South Park sample for the unit done in 2005, where Eric Cartman can be heard
cursing Kyle: " I hope you die!, I hope you Phu$#@ing die!" over and over!
The curse word is censored out, as the sample was recorded from the television version.

I gained a good understanding of the playback library,
and implemented software controls for speeding up and slowing down playback,
and starting and stopping playback.
I also ported the code to work correctly on a larger 16F876 microcontroller

Here I am a few years later in 2008 after completing a version of this project for the
pic 16F628 microcontroller! I was able to reduce the part count and make the unit
much smaller so it can fit into a greeting card. The smaller units pictured above are prototypes
made for a talking Mother's Day card which I plan to give to my Mother this year (2008) :)

Later, I hope to make an even smaller version by fitting the whole thing into a pic based wafer card.

This one is pretty much the same thing as in the second video in it's prototype (breadboard) stage,
but it's equipped with a two Watt amplifier so it can easily drive a small speaker.
