We are a secular online network and musical collective created to provide ourselves and other “defenders” with a place to better stand up against issues and adversaries such as:
-Animal exploitation and factory farms
-Maltreatment of nature
-Violence and war
-Abuse of children
-Pornography and sexism
-Intolerance of homosexuality
-Excessive praise of lust
-Infidelity in relationships and marriages
-Racism
-Ageism
-General ignorance
-Anything else that contributes to the downfall of equality or denies living things respect
We believe that all of the aforementioned problems are closely intertwined but fixable.
We are pro:

-Peaceful negotiation
-Aging
-Feminism
-Self respect
-Meaningful, consensual sex
-Veganism/Vegetarianism
-Environmentalism
-Spirituality
-Optimism
-Friendship
-Sincerity
-Quality (ie. not degrading) music, art, other creative expression
-All other things that exhibit genuine respect and real love
You don’t have to know about or encompass all of those traits to find your place here. The only qualifications are an open heart, a willingness to learn, to share, to respect, and to perhaps try something new.
Defenders of Real Love exists so that people who feel like our world is in danger, partially or wholly due to the above list of adversaries, can come together in the struggle for a more positive and meaningful existence. This group is for us, our families, our friends, and the future children of this Earth.
We are living in an world where economic stress is on the rise, where methane gas from factory farming is eating away at the atmosphere, where violence, racism, sexism and ageism all still infiltrate our communities in subtle and not so subtle ways, where pornographic images and unattainable beauty standards run rampant through the internet and the general media, and where infidelity and divorce rates are spiraling out of control. A fundamental problem with our modern culture is that these issues are so prevalent that many people have become desensitized to them and view them as normal.
We believe that at some point, all of us have found it difficult to trust others under these disheartening conditions. Because of this, we must regain control, starting with ourselves. We must become the trustworthy by becoming the ones who can be counted on to stand firm in our respectful, loving beliefs.
We believe that real change cannot be achieved through government mandates or force (for example, the abolition of legal pornography or meat consumption…neither of which are likely to occur anyway), but rather from within the hearts of individual people on their own accord.
Hopefully, you will join with us as we acknowledge our personal mistakes and hypocrisies, evaluate how our personal choices are affecting humanity, and promise to change for the better. This promise could change your life, and we hope the change will last for your lifetime and beyond.
Let’s turn our dissatisfaction into optimism in order to promote positive change. In the meantime, we’ll keep providing them good ol’ tunes.
