Ok, this video is pretty complicated so we're gonna have to take this one step at a time! For the character speculation, go to the Deep Dive page as basically all the characters in ASAS appear in Deep Dive. The only one that doesn't is the girl on the beach right at the end. I like to give the characters shortened names to make it quicker to type about them. Therefore I'll call the girl on the beach "Stargazer" as she's watching the shooting star! Let's start with her.
Who's Stargazer? Well, on first viewing some people think "Hey what's Tifa doing there?" (Tifa is a character from Final Fantasy VII) because she certainly looks like her from the back. But when you look a bit closer, you see that she's actually wearing clothes very similar to Kairi. Also the pose (hands clasped behind back) is typically Kairi as well. So, most people now agree that Stargazer is Kairi. The hair colour has changed which does leave some doubt, but I've found that it depends on how bright you have your monitor or TV. In dark contrast the hair looks black, but in light contrast it looks the same shade of red that Kairi had. Play around with the brightness and contrast to see if you can see it too!
So that's the charcter out of the way, but what about the rest of the video? Well what about the location. There are lot's of rumours for this, some more credible than others. Here are two that I think hold some weight. One theory says that the rain swept city is Midgar from Final Fantasy VII. Now we know that Square-Enix are making this game alone, and so it makes sense for a sequel to be set in the Final Fantasy worlds, rather than the Disney worlds from the original. Also, since when has there been a Disney world that looked that threatening and dark? But when you look more closely at the video, the buildings are a different style to the ones in Midgar. When you look at the large video screens on the building, they still have that sort of cartoonie edge that was typical of Kingdom Hearts. In fact those video screens somehow remind you a bit of Traverse Town from KH. This is the second theory, "The Unknown City" is in fact an updated Traverse Town.
I prefer the theory that says that it's Traverse Town. Those screens are the clinching point and because of them I'm going to say that this city is Traverse Town that's definately come on a bit from the first game.
Again, this idea of it being a future Traverse Town is backed up by other factors. Let's just say that Twin Keyblade is Sora and Blindfold is Riku (justification for this is on the Deep Dive page). Those two have definately aged quite a lot since KH, and both characters bodies seem to have caught up with their feet size wise! But seriously though, the characters are definately older than fourteen and fifteen, and look more in the region of ninteen or twenty. So let's say that five years have passed. Is this enough time to make the changes? Well that depends on how many changes there are. The video is very dark and hazy and, from the looks of things, al that's been added are a couple of neon signs! This wouldn't take a whole five years surely, so these changes are practical and more importantly, possible. Here's a thought, maybe the big building with the bell in Traverse Town's second district is the large building that you see in the video's??? Maybe, it's a thought anyway!
Ok, now on to the really tricky bit to explain. Why Twin Keyblade, who we assume to be Sora, asks "Where's Sora?". This has got to be the biggest puzzle. I came up with a very lame idea this afternoon, and said that it was to confuse the heartless! What do you reckon? No, not very convincing. But what else could be going on there? Well think of the blindingly obvious. It isn't Sora. But I don't like that because the case for Twin Keyblade to be Sora is far too strong for him not to be our spikey haired friend. The truth is that I'm beaten on this one. Ican't think of a good enough reason for Sora to ask where he is. There is something floating around that it is another Sora, like a mirror image, but that seems quite weak. Anyone who wants to defend the case for that e-mail us at deepdive@fsmail.net cos I'd love to take you on about it, cos personally I think it's a load of tripe!
Right so that's the nitty gritty stuf over. Let's try and pull this all together and make some sense of it. This is what I reckon happens. See what you think.
My Final Theory on Another Side, Another Story:
Five years have passed and once again Sora travels to Traverse Town after the barriers between the world have finally broken again. He arrives there and walks through the main square towards what was the Gizmo Shop. Admiring the new style Gizmo shop he looks up. Suddely a darkness twinges at his heart. Looking sideways he sees the Heartless emerging out of the ground. Seeing that he's got a fight on his hands, he draws the two keyblades that have the most power in his possesion, Oathkeeper and Oblivion. Meanwhile, on top of the building, Riku has been watching all this facinated. Could this really be his friend Sora back again? To make sure, he opens his arms and clears the cloud away with a power he aquired inside Kingdom Hearts itself. The magic from the falling stars causes the sign of Kingdom Hearts to appear around the Keyblade master. Amazed, Riku removes his blindfold to get a closer look at Sora. Sora, realising that Riku's back scoffs "Where's Sora?". He says this in the way that says that once again his friends are needing his help to get out of a scrape. It's like "Where's Sora when you need him?" As if he was talking with Riku's voice. The words fly all over the screen. Some have been said already in the five year gap, others are still yet to be said. The words "We'll go together" are a reference to the gathering that is about to happen soon. Kairi runs out onto the beach as soon as she sees the shooting star. Finally, this is the sign that she has been waiting for. Finally she can go find Sora, cos this time she wants to fight too. After all, it has been a lonely five years without her two best friends.......
