Country Home Interview

Ch.L.: Would you please introduce yourself to the readers and tell us something about your history.

Dee Dee: Hi ya'll, My name is Dee Dee Downs , I am a Nashville recording artist and my home base is in Franklin N.C. I am currently being promoted by Miranda Promotions International .You are invited to visit me anytime at http://www.freewebs.com/deedeedowns and learn more about me.

Ch.L.: How was the last year for you? Were there any highlights?

Dee Dee:This year has been awesome! I have a promotor and I released my first cd this summer 2007.

Ch.L.: Country Music has many new fans in Europe who may be learning about you for the first time. How would you describe the music you play to someone who has never seen or heard you before?

Dee Dee: My music is Country and Southern Gospel, a must hear for any fan of Country and Gospel music. It is just good down home music.

Ch.L.: What is your current CD and how is it doing?

Dee Dee: My current Cd is titled, "Riding On A Wing And A Prayer". It is being recieved very well, especially on the internet radio stations.

Ch.L.: How did you find the title for the CD and what inspired you?

Dee Dee: I recorded the song, "Riding On A Wing And A Prayer", it was written by a very good friend of mine, Gilbert Burke. When I was trying to come up with a name for the cd this song title just jumped out at me. I asked Gils permission and he agreed to it so we decieded to call it, " Riding On A Wing And A Prayer".

Ch.L.: Do you write the songs yourself, and if not, how do you go about finding songs for your albums?

Dee Dee: No I wish I could write my own songs. My promotor Miranda helped me find my songs, except for the one Gospel," Lord Help Me Hold On To You", it was written by my Mother. The net is also a great way to find wonderfull songs to record.

Ch.L.: Please tell us about the songs on your album.

Dee Dee: It is a mix of Country and Gospel songs. " Lord help Me Hold On To You" the one written by my mother has a story that goes with it. My Mother wrote this song almost 21 yrs ago. She was inspired to write it while my younger Brother was left in a coma from a motorcycle accident. he was in a coma fro a long time and eventually the Lord called him home. Then just last year 2006, we found someone to put the musical arrangement to it. Then I went to Nashville and recorded it. It was the first song I ever recorded and I have been recording ever since.

Ch.L.: What will be your next single?

Dee Dee: I am working on one right now. It is an amazing christian song. Someting a little more different than I usually sing. I hope to get it released before this year is over. So ya"ll keep your eyes and ears open for it.

Ch.L.: How do you feel about winning the TCMA Rising Female Vocalist Of The Year 2007 Award and what has it done for your career?

Dee Dee: I was very honored to recieve this award, especially since I am so new to the Country music scene. I believe it has made me want to strive to do even better.

Ch.L.: What is the latest news in your career?

Dee Dee: Well, I am working on recording my new Gospel single and am hoping to get it released real soon. I am also performing at alot of beneifits and doing concerts. I would also like to thank all my friends and my fans for making this year such a great one. God bless you all and may all your wishes come true.

MusicWorld3d Interview

MusicWorld3D Forums Getting to know…Dee Dee Downs Dee Dee Downs is a solo artist with a voice that reminds one of Helen Reddy. Her music is a blend of contemporary country and gospel. With songs that will make you weep or get up and dance, Dee Dee Downs's music will surely touch your heart and soul. While Downs has been performing for years now, it was only in 2006 that she got more serious about her music. She recorded two songs in Nashville, Tennessee. Lord Help Me Hold On To you and When the Rain Comes Falling Down represent her foray into the music business as a serious artist. A solo artist, Downs alone is responsible for finding her own inspiration for her songs. She looks to God, her mother, and her family. One song of hers recalls her last moments with her younger brother. Dee Dee said that she enjoys singing daily. She has a karaoke machine and loves to sing songs with it regularly. No juicy secrets here, just a whole lot of music-making! On the topic of the elusive recording contract, she was brief. She shared that she had not really thought about it very much, however she thinks it might provide her with some better song choices. I also asked what she thinks one should consider when embarking on a career in music. Here is what she shared; "The First thing would definitely have to be your fans. Keep in touch with them and let them know that you care about them. If you are going to be recording a song, please check around first and see what they all have to offer you for the price you will be paying them. Don't trust just anyone to help you with your music career. Generally I am a very trusting person, but I have learned that you have to watch your back and not be too trusting in this business. If you can afford it get your self a great promoter, it takes a lot of pressure off of you. Frees up some time for you and you can focus on making your music. Get out there on the World Wide Web! Get as many people as you can to listen to your music and or your band. Join a lot of Musicians sites; they put you in touch with all kinds of other musicians. They are usually very helpful if you need any advice or help." Downs offers some sage words with regards to the industry as a whole. "If you are interested in getting into the music business just be prepared to spend quite a bit of money. The most important thing that I have learned is, it takes time. You have to be willing to focus on your music and spend a lot of time on it and on promoting yourself, instant success doesn't happen over night." This is obviously a lady who is grounded in reality as well as faith. Dee Dee Downs has just released a new CD, entitled Riding on a Wing and a Prayer which features original country songs as well as Southern Gospel tunes.
